Why not get your hgv licence and do a job in trucking. I know a lad that is out and is doing this he works three days a week and gets more than most working class civvies. He said hes on his own to do a job and has time for family and friends there to help him get into the swing of things

How do all you ex squadies find returning to civvy life?
Do you find it hard to adjust back to the life style, and is it hard to find a job?

It seems as though if you have a trade (eg Mechanic, Engineer, Pilot) it shouldn't be to hard to find a job.
But what about the likes of Infantry or Artillery, how hard is it for you to find a decent job, as you don't exactly gain any qualifications?
Usually, "ex Squaddies" are articulate. And can read , write and spell quite well. Assuming the Army gives them most of the tools, discipline and attitude which most savvy employers look for; those without such transferable skills could consider journalism.

All civvys are tight fisted fuckers. I was looking out of the shop window the other day and this bloke dropped some money on the floor. Problem was, was that he was so small and so fat that he couldn't bend down to pick it up. Fat cunt tried his fucking hardest though, and even though his stumpy legs couldn't lift his own gargantuan weight, by fuck did he persevere. Fat cunt!

Point being that the fat cunt wouldn't let 10 pence go un-recovered yet he'd quite happily waste £1 or more on a fucking pie from Gregs.

Civvys are narrow minded and tight as fuck. Added to that, they're stubborn and thich as fuck. I hear people everyday that say that they go to Meadow Hall as "something they wanted" was 5 quid cheaper than at home. However, the FACT that it's a 100 mile round trip doesn't even come in to it!!!

I had the most terrible trouble adjusting, as those things I'd rather foolishly taken for granted, such as a batting service, stable hand, and cleaning maid, were suddenly snatched way from me. Now over the worst of it, but it's been a long, hard, battle with the night shelter to convince them to provide me with suitable replacements in return for a daily ration subsidy and a few mid-range sleeping bags.

I"d agree with Senior Chavez et al who say it's personal atttude and the desire to make a go of it. Added to the fact that as we moved every 2 years (I was in a Corps), change and a degree of turmoil was something to be taken in our stride. It also made the emigration to Canada, where I now reside and work in an oil & gas company, a relative piece of piss (mind you, getting the job is another story). Do I miss the Army after 24 years? The crack and (some of) the guys yes, but once you're out, you're out and you've got to make the best of it.

You see! This is why birds and CID don't mix.
You give a bloke a gun and he thinks its a dream come true
You give a girl one and she knows it doesn't go with a dress.

In my defence I think it makes sense to ask this before joining, because I didn't want to get to the end on an Army career and find out I get stuck working at Mc Donalds or Tescos for the next 5 years afterwards.
No worries there, feller. I served 22 years and am now working in Papua New Guinea....I was head-hunted for the job!
