So what you are saying is a female team have the record for the female version of Long Reach. Hardly world shattering news now, is it?

Yeah but on my intake the fems also 'won' the log race.
They had 10 minutes taken off their time..."Not just another office job", they said.
Lying fuckers, them ACA1s...

Before I rant, Long Reach was said to be 70km in 36 Hours, more like a long walk in Wales!!
Rant On
WTF was that??? Either Sandhurst is now a touchy feely in touch with my emotions course or the MOD edited that to read "come be an officer its as easy as having a shit after a curry!"
Yes, I am an old fart, SMC16 in '77-'78 but seriously, is that what it is like now??
Day 1, nice chat with the Platoon Commander, get settled in......My Day 1 Get changed and run around Barossa until you puke
Where was the Mental PTI, The Telegraph Pole Carries, The general pointless messing about and Rush to Wait?? and what are those fucking horrible chavvy tracksuits and trainers!!!!!!!
If you are going to make a TV programme about Sandhurst then at least make it real, not some sanitised bullshit or are we now so desperate for recruits that everything has been watered down to the n'th degree
Again I ask is this how it actually is now??
Rant Off

They're trying to fit three 14 week terms into 3 hour long episodes and the film crew weren't present for the entire commissioning course.
From my view as an outsider it isn't as touchy feely as it looks on the TV and I certainly had a shock when I first arrived at RMAS and started working with the cadets. However, times change and perhaps thrashing people until they're sick and fucking them around for a year might not be very effective at traing the leaders of todays ArmyZARATHUSTRA: Tyrant, (Pseudo) Bully, Mad With Power and infamous Camberley Flat Thief.

Had to laugh at your perfectly reasonable diatribe, but I must point out that on day one over two decades ago I was issued a tracksuit that would have made a tramp look like Giorgio Armani at a funeral (added to which we had to put all our heavy bits and bobs in the pockets of the elasticated trousers so that while being doubled around in a squad they ended around ones knees).
That said, I don't subscribe to the "it was worse in my day" argument. It appears that the selection criteria for entrants is far more stringent now (scene with Pl Comd commenting on a 25 year old non grad [which I was] as being very unusual), and people being told they are en-route to being kicked out: virtually unheard of in my day.
All that said, not the most edifying of starts to a documentary about the UK's military academy - to quote a worldly wise colleague who tonight told me: "I thought it was boring". But I'll be interested to see how the documentary and the individuals develop.
[High five to all those who commented on the bint bulling her boots from a blob of polish on her coveralls. The 16AA Bde badged female summed her up perfectly.]Last edited by Oyibo; 21-09-2011 at 21:52.
Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.

My bet right now, after much thought, is that that wee gobshite Stewart is binned and Everard or what ever her name was bins it herself...
Dishonour before death!!
My Service Career and work ethic - Too much a poof for the SAS, too lazy for P Coy, too sea sick for the Marines, too inept for anything vaguly glamourous, but not too scared to ask that fat MT lass to dance down the bop.
