This is very confusing, Stacker says they are non-political....

Actually I said they (EDL) said they were non-political and posted the quote from their site.
Your quote above says the BNP is finished (phew thats a relief then) yet there is money and support behind the EDL so clearly they are not the same thing (if the wonderful indynews site is to be believed).

The 89 year old veteran campaigner knocked over by out-of-control riot cops was an act of criminal negligence, and the apparent taking of sides with the neo-facists of the EDL makes a mockery of the supposed impartiality of the Greater Manchester Constabulary. Several policemen have been filmed laughing and joking with EDL leaders, which proves beyond all doubt the lack of professionalism of the Bolton police.

Nick Griffin has said that he expects "a trickle not a flood" of people from ethnic minorities to join his British National Party following a ruling at an "extraordinary general meeting" in Essex allowing non-white people to join the racist group.

Well, quite, though I think he's being optimistic. I cannot imagine any sane non-white person seeking to join such an organisation. And that there won't be a "flood" is instructive of what sort of a party it is, behind the gloss.

Talking of gloss, here's a worrying point.

Asked about the ruling, which was forced by the Equalities Commission, a BNP spokesman, Simon Darby, said: "Let's put it like this -- if, as a result of this, a court rules that we are now a bona fide party, that's a great stamp of approval. I dont defend them, Im just not a knobber who decides the are one and the same. Is the black bloke in the picture I posted BNP? He must be because hes at an EDL rally.

The BNP have distanced themselves from the EDL. The EDL have stated on their website they welcome anyone. They have black people supporting them. Yet naturally they are same because errrrr some BNP members are EDL. Are the police all EDL? because the Indynews says some of them are friendly with the EDL

You put up a quote earlier stating some mixed race football thug was at an EDL rally I put up a picture with a black bloke supporting their rally.

Just out of interest can you tell me what flag is being flown at this EDL rally? Is it the Nazi symbol?

Just visited EDL's website and was fascinated by their merchandise pages...and grossly offended by their apparent theft of the "in hoc signo vince" (sic) motto which Christians have used since the days of Constantine. Obviously the tag should be in hoc signo vinces but this "romani eunt domes" moment seems the least of their faults as a movement!

Ironically the motto was adopted by Jan Sobieski, a former Polish leader. no doubt at that time there were Poles coming over here, taking our coats of mail, swiving our wenches and joining the guild of building workers. It also featured on the colours of the six regiments of Irish foot (the Wild Geese) in French service from 1690-1792. Poles AND Paddies but at least it has no affinity link with Pakistan or Saudi Arabia!

It was also a motto of the Knights Templar - a sort of pan-European EDL in its day, fighting off the Turks. It was used in the FRY as a rallying call during ethnic/religious cleansing. So I suppose it is fit for purpose as a rallying cry for the "new Crusaders"?
