I believe that GGF own FENSA and a senior director within Anglian is a director of FENSA!

Re: Double Glazing Salesmen
Everest will accept a 10% deposit on a credit card if pushed, they try the hard sell with thier own credit loans first (Barclays & another company which I have forgotten). (Also they add on 2.5% to the sale price if you use a credit card, 'VERY' small print on back of contract). I had a quote from Everest and was close to signing with them until I spotted the small print. If they can not be up front and clearly state on the front of the form that a 2.5% charged is levved for use of a credit card then I could not be arrsed to deal with them.

Re: Double Glazing Salesmen
Another point in favour of the smaller local company, they tend to be happy with CC payment, perhaps because they tend to do the job properlyfirst time so do not have the charge back risk, and all I have dealt with recently do not want any deposit, not satisfied no pay. If the company cannot carry the cash flow of your order perhaps you should not be giving them a deposit, especially in the present climate.

Re: Double Glazing Salesmen
On a cold dark winter's night in Belfast, TWO double glazing salesmen were supposed to call. But they didn't and the following day, after them measuring me up (and the windows), I was given a one off, never to repeated, only on that day, special introductory offer. As it was a one off, never to repeated, only on that day, special introductory offer, I wasn't able to compare between them and another company. But the price seemed ok and the fitting was excellent, as was the service (apart from the slightly dodgey salesmen).
A few years later I discovered a few faults. Nothing major but I thought it needed sorted. I tried ringing the company but it was unobtainable and after walking down the Boucher Road, there almost opposite B&Q was the empty building where the firm had been. After returning to my house, I tore up the guarantee as because the company hadn't been part of any trade association, the guarantee was now worthless.
The cnuts.I bought a military watch. It didn't tell me the time, it told me to get my hair cut.

Re: Double Glazing Salesmen
Mistersoft, Alot of 'local' companies advertise using a mobile phone number as their point of contact. A fair few of these companies are actually 'travellers', they buy the ready made windows in bulk, sell them cheap, fit them, fill in the gaps between the frame and the window with polyfiller and then move on.

Window Man Great advice site, certainly bears out the advice already given here and more.
The above post is not intended as official communication from HMRC and in no way reflects the opinions of that organisation. In fact, it probably doesn't reflect the opinions of the poster and certainly won't have been properly thought through.

Re: Double Glazing Salesmen
They were a reputable company as I did check a few out before even trying for quotes. Sadly being reputable doesn't necessarily mean being successful or it wasn't in their case. I was told afterwards by a neighbour that I could have got it done considerably cheaper (as ALWAYS happens) but I didn't fancy spending a week guarding my valuables.

Re: Double Glazing Salesmen
Are double glazing salesmen kiddy fiddlers?
What do you mean I'm "like a dog with a bone" and "leave off for feck's sake"? Bloody scout master!
Daddy-pig says "Snoort!"
They used to say if an infinite number of chimps typed we would get the works of Shakespeare, the internet has proved this is NOT the case...

Re: Double Glazing Salesmen
My local man works of a mobile, and only ever puts cards in the local shop windows. His workmanship is excellent. He never tries to up the ante, his stuff is made in the same factory as many of the others operating in the area, and at the prices he charges you can afford to cahnge your doors and windows every few years on what you save on the everest/anglian prices. On top of that getting a quote does not write off a whole evening.

Re: Double Glazing Salesmen
I was hoping that being a double glazing rep would get me into Scout Mastering, I didnt realise it had to be the other way round, no wonder I didnt fit in!
