time to wheel out this post again.
Is the "slag the police off" thread the new "waltfinder" thread?
Seems to be the same few people who try and vicariously live their lives through incidents they have never witnessed, will never have to deal with and generally have no clue what they are talking about. Much like many of the waltfinder generals.

Unfortunately, once a police officer passes Superintendant he becomes a bean counter and has no interest on how the figures are produced or the cost to his workforce. They put in place Draconian sick policies where an officer injured twice making arrests is put on half pay due to his shocking sickness record. they bring in single crew patrol policy-which I have no problem with- but when 1 shout goes up 4 single crewed officers run to it instead of one double crewed unit.

He will then become ACPO rank and have completely forgotten about frontline policing. He is then only scrambling with the other ACPO for his Chief constable position. These people drive the police forces and the coal face copper has no say in what happens to them- the Federation is a toothless entity that £20 a month gets you the most expensive diary in the world.

All in all anyone considering the police as a career- dont.(Its $HIT!)

Okay, don't go to ACPO (sorry but I'm not upto speed on copper ranks) go to the rank and file coppers and ask them what they want.

My brother is a Copper. He is also an illiterate, ginger, shortarse. He does however have to deal with utter dross on a day to day basis and regularly risks a shoeing. Whatever the issue is then it's not to do with the attitiude of junior officers or CSOs.

The only perk of the job seems to be that he sometimes gets to see Forest play for free.

The Police have certainly spent a lot of money on PR.Whenever they face their critics(the media?),they are quick to wheel out senior officers to defend themselves. What does 'sorry' and 'lessons learned' mean, when uttered by the Police PR machine? Nothing!

Wheeling out an on-duty senior officer to talk to the press hardly adds up to spending a lot of money on PR does it? If said coppers ignored criticism, would you not then be acccusing them of not being bothered?

Well some Forces have 5-10 PR staff. That costs money! If ''lessons are learned'',there is never any follow up to make the public aware of such learnings.

Re: THe Rozzers - What Are They Good For?

My shift today. Without waffling there was three of us actually attending jobs that were tasked to us aswell as dealing with on going enquiries and crimes we are investigating (I currently have three and visited all 3 of my victims at some point during the shift. 1 Fraud, 1 assault, 1 Theft of Motor Vehicle).

Jusy for the benefit of arrse I clocked up how much time I spent infront of a computer carrying out mandatory administrative tasks. 6 Hours out of 10.

In the other four hours I managed to attend 3 domestics, 1 road traffic accident, 2 neighbour disputes and as I was enroute back to the nick to complete the paperwork for the above mentioned I locked up a known burglar who was out and about mooching for work (Fortunately breaching his bail conditions). I never had so much as five minutes to myself for the bog and as such I have just had a mammoth p1ss when I got home, once again another day of square eyes computer head ache and no dinner minute nevermind hour. As such tomorrow I have 3 domestics to complete the paperwork for (Each will take 30-40 minutes), an RTC pack (No less than 4 hours writing which will have to be done over a few weeks) and lengthy note book entries for the neighbour disputes as one of them will eventually use that incident as evidence in a civil court trial I will no doubt have to provide evidence for. On top of that I am still trying to investigating my three crimes I am originally allocated and will still not be barley when the radio calls in new jobs.

The system is woeful and the sad thing is that the only people who lose out are victims of crime and potential victims of crime. The system is so swamped with government nonesense its a miracle if you get to spend more than 2 hours a shift actuall "On Patrol."

I advise any of the nay sayers to read "WASTING POLICE TIME" by PC David Copperfield. It is the most true and accurate account of modern day policing that I have ever come accross. There was literally not one line I disagreed with or thought he had "Flowered up"... Not even in the slightest. If you want further reading as to what the low level commanders have to put up with then read "PEVERTING THE COURSE OF JUSTICE."

It is not showing any signs of getting better, only worse. Hence the bobbies with any common sense are applying for overseas forces where they are still allowed to police the streets and do the job they all joined to do, especially if like me their pre Police computer experience was posting drivel on forums. :D

    Southampton Central Station:

I have on three separate occasions seen Police Officers attend to deal with individuals smoking in the station - on open platforms.

On numerous other occasions I & other paying passengers have had to put up with feral/ drunken gangs of football supporters behaving in a totally obnoxious, foul mouthed & threatening manner. They're always allowed to board the already grossly overcrowded trains, where, of course, this behaviour continues unchecked. Not once - not f*!kin' once! - have they been confronted by PCs.

Written complaints to the rail company, station management, police, MPs avail you nothing - nada! Sure, you always get a reply - lots of "suit speak" & patronising assurances, but nothing changes.

Gents, we have a population of what, 60 odd million? A prison population of about 90,000, thats the size of a full house at Wembley. If every young yob, thief, druggie, persistant disqual driver etc etc was locked up wouldn't it be bloody great. The Police do catch alot of these and put them before the courts. However it is down to the Government to provide prison space for them. The prison space compared to the population is disproportionate. They get given community service etc which they cant do because they can't get out of bed. I seem to remember some saying about "tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime". What a load of bollocks that turned out to be.
