Don't worry, the article is about the government in Amsterdam. They've got f*ck all to say when it comes to foreign or military policy. The government in The Hague has and they will probably extend the mission in one way or another after the formation of a new (more intelligent) coalition later this year.

Agreed, ignore the tabloids, the cloggies do step up, above and beyond. My neighbour is an NL Marine and has done more than his share, don't doubt their commitment, thier history speaks for itself. Their Politicians are no better than ours, they are merely seeking re-election.

We can rely on the Dutch, as we have since day one, remember they were the ones who said F U to NATO in regards to Patriot in 2003 and sent them to Turkey and Israel when the boxheads and frogs where whining.

Will you all please take in consideration that a Dutch squaddie,just as his British/American/Australian/Canadian etc bretheren don't do politics.
It's not that most Dutch soldiers don't want to,but it's the politicians who decide where,when and how long they get deployed.
Having said that I think we do our fair share in Afghanistan,taken the strenght of our tiny army,compared to the British army.
