Re: Kinky or not?
Definately not kinky, a most humble man that I had the honour of meeting twice.
And on the 5th day God created the Royal Engineers and at this point he rested because he had created perfection.

I might not agree with your point of view, but I will die to defend your right to have that point of view and the freedom to express it.

I think it depends on what he was whipping himself with?
Every man has a right to utter what he thinks truth, and every other man has a right to knock him down for it. Martyrdom is the test.

Re: Kinky or not?
It'd probably also be interesting to find out what else he was doing during the whipping sessions.

A little light scourging is probably alright though...it's not like he made Opus Dei a personal prelature or filled the College of Cardinals with OD leaders...
Oh....I see.
Daddy-pig says "Snoort!"
They used to say if an infinite number of chimps typed we would get the works of Shakespeare, the internet has proved this is NOT the case...

I wonder if the late Bishop of Rome dreamt that Ian Paisley was wielding the belt!
What a bloody freak! But better that perhaps than shagging little boys like the rest of his flock.PRISTINAE VIRTUTIS MEMOR

Several times he would put himself through bodily penance," said Tobiana Sobodka, a nun from the Sacred Heart of Jesus order.
"We would hear it – we were in the next room at Castel Gandolfo. You could hear the sound of the blows when he flagellated himself."
Yeah, honest guv, just self flagelating, nothing to see here.

Re: Kinky or not?
If only these religious loons would stick to hurting themselves all of the time.
We need people who look to the stars, holding the nation and the world in their hearts but at the same time we need down-to-earth people who can do serious and trying work.
In a definite sense, a country's power and prestige isn't only a reflection of its economic power but also a reflection of its people's quality and morality. Moreover, I think the latter is actually more important in the long-term.
