Funny you should say that! I was in a irrigation ditch up to my knees in mud and shite in Helmand when my mucker offered me a fag and some of his brew. I wonder if he should consider joining the Sally Army? He's a bit of a weirdo as well!

As a card carrying, fully committed agnostic I must say there are good padres (Cpt Evans - Evans Above - was one) and there are the total wankers.
The Sally Army are the only religious body I'll give money to for much the same reason as filthyphil's uncle - swap Sarawak for New Guinea, WW2 for the communist insurgency and the story is very similar. Anyway there's a good crossword in The War Cry...

He was highlighting 'inequality'; he has revved (hoho!) Torygraf/DailyFail readers to full throttle and lured Mrs A of TW on camera offering mock indignation whilst exiting Waitrose with a food trolley that could feed Somalia for a week.

A of TW is wont to be like the newly blooded hunter in the the tribe who has just bagged the 300lb gorilla and returns to say no-one else can have a slice as I've slotted him, me, myself, I! So feck off! (direct quote from A Smith btw.)

Perhaps his motivation was laudable, and there’s certainly an unacceptable level of iniquity, but it wasn’t just the papers and their readers that were unhappy with his statements.
