    RIP Chris Harman

Sadly, Chris Harman died on 7 November in Cairo, while lecturing there. I met Chris on a number of occasions through the years and he was a marvellous and extremely clear-headed and erudite fella. A great loss indeed for the Socialist movement.

I have all of his books, but three I’d especially recommend for those interested in Socialism are: “Russia: from workers' state to state capitalism”, “A People's History of the World” and his last book: “Zombie Capitalism: Global Crisis and the Relevance of Marx”

Nobody gives a fuck about your communist boyfriend. Do one.
I tend to think of myself as a one man wolf pack. Though when my sister brought Doug home I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack, it grew by one. So there was two of us in the wolf pack. And six months ago when Doug introduced me to you guys, I thought: "wait a second could it be?", and now I know for sure I just added two more guys to my wolf pack. Four of us wolves running around the desert together in Las Vegas, looking for strippers and cocaine.

Why is the death of a Red Civvy on here? Can we get this binned. This is not the forum or place for mourning the death of lets face it, a radical left wing pinko fag subversive(apologies to Kenny Everett)
If a man knows not and knows not that he knows not, he is a fool, shun him
If a man knows not and knows that he knows not, he can be taught, teach him
If a man knows and knows not that he knows, he is aslep, wake him
But if a man knows and knows that he knows, he is a prophet, follow him

So who made you spokesperson for the 50,000-odd members of ARRSE, then? There's nothing at all "subversive" about being a Socialist, although the Capitalists spend an awful lot of time grinding out such clap-trap.

Chris Harman (along with Tony Cliff, Paul Foot and many others) was instrumental in freeing the notion of Socialism in the UK from all the unnecessary, pseudo-intellectual ballast it had accumulated and making it accessible to normal folks like you and me. His reasoning was that Socialism is meant to be a way of life for the Josephines and Joes on the street, but that can't happen unless it's understandable for them and presented in a way with which they can equate.

You should try reading some of Chris's excellent books sometimes - or get somebody to read them to you.

I, for one, very much regret his passing.

Didn't somebody tell you fuck off already? We've had enough so-called Socialism to last us a very, very long time.

Chris Harman....a member of the Central Committee of the Socialist Workers Party.....so a complete and utter knobber with even less grip on reality than me.

I and the other 49,999 members of arrse rejoice at the news of his death.
