Re: Jimmy Carr Mocks Limbless Soldiers On Stage.
I was having a chat with Tom Neathway today. He was not offended and thought it was funny and commented on how true the observation was.

Jimmy Carr can be quiet funny at times-so he should get the benefit of the doubt.
However if Heather McCartney Mills had said the same thing, she wouldnt have a leg to stand on.

Edited to add: I see Jimmy Carr has promised to do something in aid of HFH. Not a bad guy at all.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.
Alternatively, put stacker1 on ignore.
I didn't say it was your fucking fault, I said I was blaming you.

Re: Jimmy Carr Mocks Limbless Soldiers On Stage.
Jimmy Carr just made the Five news at five this evening..
ARRSE also made the news in person.
Most took it a little tongue in cheek but accept his tastes are not to everyones liking.
At least those apparently most offended are to gain from his future Money raising promises.
He seems to have been a man of his word in the past, lets wait and see.

Re: Jimmy Carr Mocks Limbless Soldiers On Stage.
I think Mr Carr is right on this occasion. Because as I recall, you'll find that he was only ever wrong once before, when he thought he was incorrect, but it turned out he was mistaken.
I actually think a lot of his observations are quite brilliant. Like the one he made above (probably not a verbatim quote, and for that I apologise) However, the biggest sin he committed was that the comment just wasn't humorous. It was lazy and lacked his customary irony. He must be losing his edge.

Re: Jimmy Carr Mocks Limbless Soldiers On Stage.
Just found this thread after reading "negative" publicity elsewhere. Haven't read the thread yet, but adding my comment immediately to the last page that I thought it was an excellent joke, it made me laugh, and I reckon it will make any squaddy laugh too. Fuck what some drippy journalist thinks.
Now I'll go and read the rest of the thread and see if I'm right.

Re: Jimmy Carr Mocks Limbless Soldiers On Stage.
FFS If one of us had said it in the NAAFI I'd have been funny. Just cause the no marks who have never done anything in their lives get outraged we shouldn't.
Calling for his resignation is pointless, he's a comedian and can work anywhere.
He's not funny and yep I wouldn't get tired punching his face in, you lot who are jumping on the wagon take the agenda elsewhere. The NAAFI isn't the place for it.
nuff said, he's a knob and told a joke so fecking what.Lead, follow or get the f88k out of the way

Re: Jimmy Carr Mocks Limbless Soldiers On Stage.
Surely all the best comedy makes you laugh and then stop and think "I shouldn't laugh". It is about challenging people to think and see things in a different light.
What a sad world it will be if we can't make jokes about anyone who migh be offended. As my old Colour Sergeant used to say as he trotted out another Rodney joke "If you couldn't take a joke you shouldn't have joined the Army"
As has been said Jimmy Carr has supported our injured heros on many occassions and will do so again. I am sure he got the joke from one of the guys in treatment. I'm more outraged every time the hideous Jo Brand turns up on TV near a mealtime - the mess it makes!!!Officially classed as a Bigot by The Party - and proud of it!

P.S. The boat house is closed while it's being painted a different colour. In 1953 the UK Defence Budget was 11.3% of GDP. By 1966 it had been reduced to 6.6%. In 2011 it is hovering around 2%. Good job we're no longer expected to fight any wars, isn't it?
