There is a short piece on UTV news about Andy Allen who was featured in this original film.
It shows how he is coping now and he has a second baby on the way.
I think this quote from him when asked about how he is coping of "Soldier On" says a lot about him.

HHH, I was talking to him about 6 weeks ago at the Abbeycentre, he certainly seems to be doing better.

That's good to hear, pass on my best wishes next time you are talking to him.
Plus a lot of credit goes to his wife, not many young girls would have stuck by him.
Here's to a long life and a merry one
A quick death and an easy one
A pretty girl and an honest one
A cold beer and another one!

That's the first thing I said to the missus. It's actually remarkable how a very young girl at the time took on the challenge that he represented at the time, considering she had the kid coming and the extent of his injuries.

My daughter was round this evening and she watches loads of medical/real life docu.s, so I thought I'd show her this.

me: Want to watch something I downloaded about wounded soldiers and rehab?
she: I need to study, and then an early night. We'll watch the first bit then I'll get the books out.
    me: Okey doke.
<first part finishes - I go to Safari to start catching up>
she: Go back to that, just the next bit. Then...

She was entranced through the whole thing, unable to believe what Andy (same age as her) was going through, and the seemingly total resilience of Tom under such circumstances. She's like me - not given to displays of emotion - but I heard a few sniffs and lots of "Oh, my god!", "Aaaww!" and "How can he just say that?". I hope it's opened her eyes and changed her outlook a little - next I have to get the other one to watch it somehow! I reckon every teenager should see it.

It's nice to see the updates, BTW, thanks for posting them up. They both seem to be doing well .

Brothers in Arms, eh? Sacred bond, isn't it? killing other young men. One might even call it poetic. If poetry wasn't the last refuge of the bearded, cricket hating sodomite...

Top program but I heard the BBC are going to be filming a follow up to it soon. However, there is a tricky subject of one of the stars of the program being royally shafted by his own Unit only a few months ago and it all becoming rather embarrassing for the MOD.
