The right of free speech you retard. On the whole, Brits abroad on stag and hen partys are drunken disrespectful pigs. But don't worry, you're Welsh and lacking sufficent chromosones to qualify as a person or a pig. Would you prefer sponge or mollusc?

Edited to add - the police presence in old Riga is huge, there were no bouncers in any of the pubs/clubs we were in, just cops on every street corner who stuck their heads in from time to time.

That's why the Finns are highly unpopular in Estonia too, Looks like they have moved to Latvia

Btw, the mayor of Riga (newly elected) is Nil Ushakov (BBC distorted his surname). He is ethnically Russian.

Nobody cares. Maybe Russia can agitate and forment some more protests and fighting over statues and ignite ethnic tension - something they are very good at.

'That's why the Finns are highly unpopular in Estonia too, Looks like they have moved to Latvia.'

It used to be Leningrad (or St Petersburg, or whatever they're calling it this month) where the Finns would get off the ferry, stock up in the nearest offy, book into the hotel then vanish for the weekend. The Finns do have an excuse - Scandinavian licensing laws in general (and Finnish laws in particular) are so draconian that when they go on a boozy weekend, they tend to make a good job of it.

As for the Latvians being Xenophobic, as someone has already said - when you see a Latvian p1ssing on the Cenotaph then you can comment. Being kicked around by the Russians for 60 odd years tends to make the Latvians a bit more appreciative of what they have. Solzenitsyn said of the Latvians that they were the only race where he had never met a bad one (a bit like Fijians).

In many countries people believe that all inhabitants of Great Britain are the English, that the government in London is English government.

The Scots are being ragarded sometimes as special kind of the English, as 'mountaneous English'.

Compare. The Soviet were called as 'the Russians' while ethnically Russians were only 50% of Soviet population.

So the Latvian minister saing about "English pigs" meant rather UK citizens.

    Though... who knows?
