Re: "War effort is being hampered by troops too unfit to dep
Oi you! I've seen my fare share of fat knacker paras in my time... ok, they could all out run me on flat and hill, but at least I could see my willie without the aid of a mirror or the reflection of it in my fellow motarman's eye!

Also use to get a chuckle when the downgraded seniors were mad keen for battle camp only when there was any physical activity they were just mad keen for everyone else to do it.
I shit you not when I say there was a Sgt at my last unit who was so fat you could not see his regimental belt (from the front, side or back). I've already mentioned the Sgt who is so fat she can't tuck her shirt in, yet can play golf. It might be explainable if they where injured while they were at that rank instead of when they were toms.
Not that this is a dig at SNCOs there are plenty of fat biff juniors as well. Its just more understandable why nothing gets done about it.

Re: "War effort is being hampered by troops too unfit to deploy"
Perhaps the solution would be a policy where fatties are told its lose it in 3 months and get fit or take 9 months holding ground somewhere hot a sandy. No patrolling, just an a/c gym and stag on at key ponts, soldier first and all that!

Soldier first? You do realise alot of biff chits exempt ranges? Some people have never fired as SA80(2) in their career.

While I understand people might put on some weight when they get injured I fail to see how people allow themselves to hit the morbidly obese mark, unless they are just bone idle.
