The only headgear I want to see on the police when they enter a Mosque to"Talk" to the elders, is a riot helmet, complete with baton and shield.

Now thats what I call community policing!
With huge respect, did you forget the gas-masks?
The gas mask will be needed for the troops burning the corpses of the government... the pigs do have quiet a stench of corruption about them!

Re: Union Flag Badge is 'Offensive' says Met

Afraid I'm going to have to agree with Western on this one. Nothwithstanding the fact that the police uniform SHOULD incorporate the Union Flag, the fact that it does not and officers have been told to remove it is final, it is an order and should be obeyed. Rebelling is futile, they should lobby for the inclusion of a badge but in a grown up manner.

Simply ignoring an order is just not good enough and sends out completely the wrong message to the community that individual police officers feel themselves above their own codes of conduct, not a particularly good message to send out if you ask me.

Frankly nothing in this country surprises me anymore. All public service uniforms should bear the Union Flag, just as all Government/Council buildings should constantly fly the Union Flag, that is not up for debate. no other flag should be flown (inclduing Gay pride etc etc) as to do so is, in my opinion, inappropriate, for what it's worth
There are only 2 things you need to know about Estate agents, can't live with them, can't live with them!

I've been out of touch with the Met for a while as I am now a copper down under but what happens when Red Nose Day comes along and there are the usual picture of cnutish coppers 'directing' traffic with red noses on, will they be pulled up about non corprate wear?
I used to think that the brain was the most wonderful organ in my body. Then I realized who was telling me this.

The US President can wear a discrete American Flag lapel badge as Commander in Chief of the US Military & show his pride & patriotism. Then surely in the UK as the 51st State of the US can a few peelers in the Met not show their pride & support for our own.

I seem to remember that Broon & Obama both wore a small joint US & UK lapel badge at a joint press conference in Lounge Suits when cyclops was Stateside. I am not aware of Broon ever wearing a discreet UJ lapel badge in the UK.

No doubt that Mandys 'interns' will pick up on this & soon Broon will be sporting a discreet lapel badge.

It saddens me to say that the most Patriotic Nation with real pride is Canada closely followed by the US. We have a lot to learn. Labour are eroding our core values & will pay the price.

No I had a full Regular career with the Army. Now really try to understand what I first posted before getting all outraged, which is just about as low as grief whoring in my book.

The point I was making was not about the design of the badge, which is irrelevant, it was about Police Officers doing what they are told. The fundamental of discipline.

The Police and the Met in particular, think that they can pick and choose which instructions to obey, they also have their own interpretation of the law but that is another thread.

In a nutshell, if they defey their superiors they should be disciplined and if they continue they should be sacked.
Fair point, one door for one equals many doors for many.
We would not want plod regaling themselves in RSPCA/CND/Gay Pride/Communist Stars or any other badges they choose, as it could also be perceived to impact their supposed impartiality.
The national flag is a unique emblem in that it suppsedly represents ALL of our citizens, it it supposed to be a symbol of unity.

The other badges you mention are partisan and therefore divisive labels.

How can your countries flag be deemed inappropriate or offensive?

I find the EU flag extremely offensive but that doesn't stop local councils flying the F*cking thing.
This is not the national flag it is a symbolic badge e.g. there is a specific meaning attached to it, one that we just happen to support, but other groups of police may wish to support something different - many put religion or family before country - you happy with a Star of David or a picture badge of little Joey. Cannot have it all ways.

A flag could be a standard part of the uniform which is something completely different, although its unlikely anyone would wonder what country our plod were from.
Ok, so police officers can wear headgear that displays their religion but Police officers cannot display a badge that shows support for their country and those fighting for it?

Why are foreign religious beliefs pandered to but not patriotic belief?
have you actually read the article or were you too busy cracking one off over pics of el gordo rimming mandelbum?
the headgear is to be worn by women when entering mosques to chat with elders
whether they be muslim, anglican, jew or worshippers of the great shaitan
it is not on par with the sikh turban as it not an article of religous faith
do give your head a wobble
When I have been asked to speak to the police i have had to go to their meeting rooms they didn't come to mine, even though it would have been easier

Possibly, but I will hazard a guess that it is more likely to be some "right-on pc crazy leftie" that is "woried" other people will find it offensive.
