Re: Union Flag Badge is 'Offensive' says Met
Not a wha! Avon and Somerset have issuerd their female officers scarves to wear when dealing with members of the religion of peace. Monortiy groups are also being given the right to request a copper of their respective faith when dealing with incidents.

Can police wear poppies?
I seem to recall that a formal permission is/was given? Maybe the same should happen in this case.
I'm wondering though, if this may have something to do with someone being worried about plod being mistakenly identified as BNP supporters.....

Whilst there may (or may not) be an element of truth in what you say, the Union Flag is the flag of this nation, not the property of the BNP.

BNP are not allowed in the Police... Islamist fundamentalists / Communists etc are though so maybe it explains the use of the scarves to make them feel even more welcome.

Re: Union Flag Badge is 'Offensive' says Met
The bigger picture here is that the Met are an indisciplined rabble. Wearing these badges in defiance of orders is no different to those officers whe remove their numbers in Public Order situations. These people need to learn to do what they are told and their bosses (Sgts and above) need to grow a pair.
What would happen to a soldier who defied his OC? Or in this case the CGS equivelant?
This would be a good time for the Met Commissioner to exert his authority.

I'm surprised you still have drill staff at Hendon; I thought that went out of style when the powers that be replaced "Force" with "service".

My admiration goes out to the 70 or so who remain defiant.
Was there just a single complaint?

Re: Union Flag Badge is 'Offensive' says Met
What I cannot understand is who is finding the Union Jack offensive exactly?
I have one on my uniform (Brit Mil) and am serving in a very strict muslim country, no one has asked me to remove it because its offensive. Its just another example of the PC brigades view of , 'best ban that just in case someone complains'
If you are offended by our flag, f**k off somewhere else please!Remember "A politician can make a man a general, only communications can make him a commander!"

Well common sense would state thet the complainant should have been arrested for inciting racial hatred.

After all, we are now encouraged to wear the H4H wristbands in uniform, rightly so.
As mentioned previously, if anyone finds MY countries flag offensive... then f*cking do one, you are not welcome here.

Re: Union Flag Badge is 'Offensive' says Met
This would be a good time for you to take your head for a sh1t. Removing ID numbers is well out of order because it makes it difficult to identify officers who have used excessive force during a demonstration. Wearing a Union Jack badge harms nobody and does not prevent the officer from carrying out his duties.

Re: Union Flag Badge is 'Offensive' says Met
There is a simple answer to this, change the uniform so that it does have the National flag included like all the other Police forces i have seen in Europe. Pretty much like our people on the other front lines.
Let the Police Police, if you were a scrote who would you be more afraid of, old style Policing C 1040's jail terms with hard labour or now.........
Discuss.

That's an easy one, brothers and sisters. Next time the Met flies a flag that ARRSERS deem offensive, then we'll complain and have it removed.
Oh, hang on. I forgot. They'd arrest us.
