Last time I looked, the shortfall between what Scotland produces and what it spends varied between £2bn and £3bn per year. Westminster makes this up.

I believe that very few of them do, particularly since the banking crisis started. It has been pointed out to wee Alex that, without a massive bailout from Gordon, the entire Scottish economy would have collapsed by now. An independent Scotland would be in a worse state than Ireland or Iceland.

Happy to be corrected on the figures. We could always do the Scots a deal, we'll give you independence or damn close to it but they have to take back Brown & Galloway!

I am not an engineer - so don't know if it would work. But surely a chain of explosions along the border big enough would leave them to float off away from the rest of the country? Could it be arranged? I will happily ignite the bloody things and cheer and wave them off to their economic and social doom.

For all that I think Ms Grahame is a particular horrid example of the egregious breed at least she has the courage of her convictions, however misguided they may be. Am slightly more concerned about some of the other 47 of her colleagues that stayed away: http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/late...-48.5421427.jp

Green MSP Patrick Harvie, who said he was moving his office in Glasgow instead - utter cnut, but then he is a Green, so what do you expect?
Tory, Liz Smith, is in charge of a school cricket tour - piss-poor organisation ergo cnut.
Labour Lothians MSP Lord George Foulkes preferred to be in the House of Lords - claiming his attendance allowance, no doubt. And there is no doubt that this man is a complete cnut, this is just further evidence.
Well said that man. Now, so we can take you at your word, what about a spot of defenstration for the Tories who failed to turn up without a previously approved letter from Nanny? Edited to add - that would be Jamie Mcgrigor and the aforementioned Liz Smith.

She won't listen to most of us either. Don't feel left out. The woman is absolutely appalling.

Poor Scotland and poor Scots, to be represented by such an ill-mannered person. I thought on the distaff side that Wendy Alexander was the worst that 'Jocks' had to put up with, but with this woman in the frame, perhaps the delicate and fragrant Wendy is not so bad after all.

No thanks rather have Elizabeth the First of Scotland as our Sovereign.Well, the prodigal brother. When did you get back? Ain't seen you since the surrender. Come to think of it, I didn't see you at the surrender.
I don't believe in surrenders. Nope, I've still got my saber, Reverend. Didn't beat it into no plowshare, neither

An interesting and courageous post. It is a tad confusing - to me and my single working brain-cell at least.

As I said, 'interesting and courageous' and certainly not without some merit.
