Kenny,
You're pissing into the wind, trying to convince dingerr about anything Parachuting or Airborne.
He's better than Encyclopedia Brittania...........He knows it all!

What I actually meant was there is a difference to completing P Coy as a fully fledged soldier then going through 26 weeks training in Depot Para as a young 17-18 year old recruit.
In this respect Para Regt are more brainwashed then their Airborne counterparts in supporting units. Whether a good thing or not it is inevitable.
At the end of the day, anyone completing P Coy and the required para course are classed as elite soldiers as 16AA Bde has proven on many occasions.
Re: Paras without planes: RAF running out of Hercules
heres my tuppence worth, do you think the move of 2/3 para to sfsg could be anything to do with budgets, parachuting is a very expensive thing in terms of money/ airframes etc. now if you move both battalions under the sf umbrella then it comes off a totally different budget and different planes are used aswell, so not tying the normal hercs up which can be thrashed out in theatre.
Re: Paras without planes: RAF running out of Hercules
A move of 2 and 3 PARA to SFSG in the near future is unlikely, though could happen one day. Taking infantry units out of any rotation system has an adverse affect on operational commitments, especially to other battalions. As for the budget. Parachuting isn't expensive in the grand scheme of the MoD's budget. One Typhoon would pay for 10 years worth of Para pay and parachuting for the whole Regiment!
In fact Para pay for the whole of 16AA Bde is around 2.8 million yearly. A drop in the ocean to be honest.

Yet he's never done it!
Ahh sweetheart, never knew you cared. If I ever did will you hold my hand on the way down?
Then again, I'm too old to start that malarky of jumping out of perfectly good aeroplanes. You'll just have to go without me. Not to worry though I will be thinking of you.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just making the point that if it is required for operational reasons then there will be a way that it is achieved.
I know that the A Tp guys do their jumps in the US because they can't get them in over here. Although I believe this is more to do with the weather than lack of aircraft.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just making the point that blah blah blah.
Dingerr,
You are always disagreeing with anything to do with parachuting or Parachute Regiment.
Something, I might add, you know fcuk all about! :P
You are one of these people that like the sound of their own voice or in this instance, their own text.
In my 22 years in the Parachute Regiment, I've come across quite a few people like you. All me, me, me & full of themselves, but ask them to tab 50 miles with the full kit & they're the first one's to go & see the Doc for a chitty in lieu!
The sort of person who would be seen whizzing around the Red Square with a Wombat Shell above his head
If I've ever come across an oxygen thief on this website, you are definately on that list!

I got all excited then, I thought I was elite until I read the whole sentence :D :D
16x for 3 years and the closest I got to a DZ was driving from South Cerney to wherever the boss wanted the kit he didn’t want to jump with dropped off.
I must admit I had a cracking time with the Bde, but then again I find it very hard to get bothered by name calling
Then again I have had a great time with whoever I have had the pleasure of serving with.
