I believe it is within my remit to release these images of IBA training.

    It appears that, at best, the IBA was never more than a poor masquerade of a BG training service;
clearly it has now entered the dangerous realms of fantasy
[fabricated service, bogus nobility, crackerjack medals et al]
and should be disinfected by sunlight.

Here are some more images of range work somewhere in Kent & at Bisley,
with the Artist Rifles Shooting Club.
Many thanks for showing us these images MM. Based on a simple comparison between these pictures and those available of Shortt in his baronial/galloglas regalia, if I had to guess I'd put these pictures in the c.1995-99 timeframe.

One question I have to ask is how in blazes did he manage to get permission to use this assortment of serious weaponry? Surely only someone or some organisation in the employ of or connected to HM Government could legally behave in this manner? That said, it still looks like a group of sad walts goofing off and posing with firearms they can't quite believe they've gotten their hands on.

Still trying to find out who I am Jimbo? Still imagine you know my name or anything about me? Keep digging.....

    I gather it was 1993.
    As to weapon exotica,
the notes say something about Artist Rifles Shooting Club based at a hut in Bisley.
Then there's a note about subsequent troubles for the club with Messrs Plod & Co.
Perhaps somebody has a line on this?

    Thanks Adam

As you know under the obligations of Common Law I had to lay such information as I possess to the Justices and to the Chief constable. Hence I can no longer keep anything in private.

I have asked the Chief constable of Kent, via Force Legal Services Dept, to identify the three police officers.

As you know the Belgian diplomatic authoprity were unable/unwilling to state that the training mission to Belgium of 1982 had Crown Authority.

Jimbo and Finan appear to be wearing non Army beret badges ... is this a badge of the CTT.

Why is Finan not wearing RM uniform ?

It appears to me, given MOD will not respond to the FOI request I sent after being referred to MOD by Belgian authority, that the photos are evidence towards the offence of UNlawful Drilling of the time .. which carried a seven year sentence for all instructors acting without Crown authority.

My mind boggles that this went on what just months after RM SIB and Kent Special Branch had conducted inquiries delegated from MI5 upon the 1981 complaints of Brigadier Mike Harvey.

I have not found an image for former cop Brian Ware on google.

No doubt you will remind me when Shortty failed to gain selection for 21 SAS.

There is a former 22 SAS Mountain Troop PSI seconded with 21 SAS of about that time now retired and living in Ramsgate and I was hoping to get down there to try looking him up. Ask what he can recall.

Iimagine the single dagger is a self invented badge of CTT/ILETA etc ? But it would be intriguing if this was a pseudo military cadet uniform.

Now on the twentieth anniversary of the IRA bombing of Deal Barracks. Why have two persons with historical access to keys not been interviewed ?

Lloyd Binyon BARTON. Kent Adventure Training Corps pseudo military cadet leader, Reliance civilian guard

    James Shortt

My nephew is a Staff sgt PTI with APTC attached Argylls. He has links with a local amateur boxing club that is extending activity into MMA. The civillian club goes into the barracks to spar against and train with the Jocks. But no one dresses tghe civvi boxers and MMA boys in combat kit
and two days later thinks the civvis are qualified to teach off duty police pistol skills !

What effing madness gripped Deal RM Barracks.

As you know, following Brig Harvey's complaint re Shortt and CTT to MI5 1981, my money is on MI5 having asked one of their old boys in the area to keep eyes and ears open. Ken Speakman WW2 MI5, Ramsgate town clerk and member of the 6th Thanet Gun Range.

Tortured and murdered in his Ramsgate home 1996. Aged in his 80s.

Convicted of the murder former French Foreign Legionnaire Anthony SWINDELLS.

Suspect names of associates proferred by SWINDELLS = TOMBS and TOMLINSON

There's more of the scoutmaster in his hut if you are interested........
The Kent pictures are Stone lodge Ranges near Dartford. I've shot on this very range many times and remember the IBA shooting there very well. I have to admit the blue suited one is starting to ring some bells. I definitely remember seeing the lardy blond gentlemen with the mini Uzi and the Mac-10. To answer your question Galloglass, these would have been held as Section 1 'shoulder stocked pistols' before the '96 Firearms Act, so probably nothing illegal. As for the AK-74 and AKSU-74 pictured at Bisley - I would suspect that these are deacts. However, if MM has a picture of Shortt firing a full-auto pistol, showing multiple cases in the air, then we would probably have definite proof of a serious Section 5 firearms offence.

I would put the date of the Stone Lodge pictures as between 1989 and 1994.
    Front sight, press!

Has his sexuality been discussed yet?

I think that if there was an award for the man with the thickest skin in the world then Jumbo would be in first, second and third place. At the award ceremony he would no doubt provide 'protection' to the VIPs by laying down smoke and turning the iPod up to deafening levels to disorient the baddies.

Though not an expert KK, the single dagger badge AFAIK is a CTT symbol, based upon Vietnam era US Special Forces insignia etc.

The "stylee" of Jim Shortts' beret in the picture seems to confirm this.

Back in the 1990's the club got raided and the club steward was booked for possession of illegal weapons.

I seem to remember the phrase 'Kalashnikov' was used.

It was reported in the 'Woking News and Mail' but I cannot remember when beyond it being in the mid 90's.

Just from memory, sorry I can't be more helpful.
