Re: 'Barron' Castleshort part IV
Re: Jim Shortt and other walts. I am putting together a brief guide for civilians to walt-spotting, which is something that anyone with a military background can do as a matter of course. This is important stuff, IMHO, because journos and scholar-types can talk to these people without realising that they're fakes (unless the walt in question happens to be a world-class anus like Mike Golden).
I've got the following as top tips when faced with a suspected walt. Can anyone suggest others? Cheers:
(1) Where are your campaign medals (check service number, rank, initials, name and regt/corps on rim)?
(2) Got any pictures with yourself and your muckers, on exercise or on tour?
(3) Got any course photos?
(4) Who did you serve with, and who was your OC/CO?
(5) When were you in theatre?

Re: 'Barron' Castleshort part IV
And indeed ...
1. There is no such thing as "hereditary Baron of Castleshort", because it's not an Irish title and was a bit of purchased Irish madness fom Terence McCarthy the well-known convicted fraudster. James Shortt is Mister Shortt.James Shortt is the current hereditary Baron of Castleshort. As such he is the Colonel and Commander of one of the oldest existing bodyguard formations in the world; The Royal Galloglas Guard.
2. The "Royal Galloglas Guard" is another Irish fantasy invention of Terence McCarthy. It's just another excuse for dressing up and playing "The Big Man" instead of being a failed civvy LIAR.
Mr Shortt, you really ought to start pulling this sort of borrocks off your websites. You know it's a LIE, and you are perpetuating actionable offenses.
