This is priceless stuff! From the barons blog no less. I wonder if anyone knows "Derek" from A4 and can get him to comment?

    "January 2006

    Covert Surveillance in Italy
Western and Eastern Christmas observances over; the training year started with a joint ILETA and IBA course in Italy, close to the resort area of Lake Garda. The course was under the direction, and taught by Derek ******, who is a 25 year veteran of MI5's A4 (Surveillance Department). During his time with A4 Derek graduated from a surveillance operator to team leader of one of A4's then 3 teams and then planning officer. He was a surveillance instructor not only for A4 but for intelligence and security officers of friendly nations to UK. Another aspect of his work was teaching counter surveillance to intelligence officers from MI6 deployed to hostile nations during the period of the Warsaw Pact. A number of members of IBA Italy including law
enforcement officers gathered at the stylish Hotel Corte in Desenzano di Garda. Derek assisted by the DG (more often or not the 'watchers' target) put the trainees through the standard follow foot drills using the A-B-C method developed by A4. At the close of the course ILETA diplomas were awarded at the IBA Italy Annual Christmas Party.
(left) Derek passes to students the tradecraft of covert pedestrian surveillance. "

Did you read shortt's claims about the scout hut he rents, its quite a story Quote: A History of Pinewood Camp

Pinewood Camp is situated in the Surrey Hills on land that once formed part
of the terrritory of the Knights Templar. As forest it was later to become
the hunting preserve of King Henry VIII. The land was enclosed as part
of the estates of nearby Addington Palace, one of the homes of the
Archbishop of Canterbury. Part of the Pinewood land fell under the estates
of the Military Academy of the British East India Company in Addiscombe.
During World War II, anti-aircraft Batteries of the Royal Artillery were
established at Pinewood Camp to protect the air approach to the RAF stations
of Kenley and Biggin Hill. Whilst this was happening M15 established a unit
of its Auxilliary Units (Resistance programme) at Pinewood Camp and in
the now closed bunkers under the camp. After WWII, the lake at the
camp was used by the Scout Movement for canoe and water safety training
and the East Croydon Scout Centre was established under Lt. Colonel Basil Monk.
The Combat Training Team arrived at Pinewood in 1983 from Royal Marines
Depot at Deal (1976-1982), via Fort Pilgrim (1982-83) and trained
NATO alligned Armed Forces in the military skills of
Close-Quarter-Battle, Combat Survival and Combat Medicine until
the CTT was mothballed in 1992. From 1985-88 instructors of the
International Law Enforcement Training Agency taught Police
Defensive Tactics, Police Impact Weaponry and Police Medical Aid to
Police Officers and instructors from a number of UK Police constabularies.
The International Bodyguard Association started its basic courses in UK in 1987,
and later a series of international training courses, thirty years after its
    foundation in Paris

Is this relevant to a couple of questions being asked:

    Tactical Firearms Course (FRANCE)
Members of IBA (Ireland) get in some 'jungle alley' range practice with AKM carbine during the Spring Tactical Firearms course in France. Students travelled to France by Ferry and vehicle. A variety of firearms were available including SIG P228 (9mm)
Browning HP35, Smith & Wesson .357 magnum. Mossberg 500 pump shotgun and Kalishnikov carbine

If I was being VERY fair, I could say that experiencing the 'other end' of what a BG might have to face is vaguely relevant ...

    ... but I'm not, so I won't.
I think it's 'playing with guns', and having been a competition shooter for 50 years, that makes me twitch.

I wonder if any of the people who travelled to France were associated with any of the gangs in Dublin, Limerick and elsewhere who have been trying to buy assault weapons for use in criminal activities? Silly me, of course not, Jimbo would screen every applicant, and turn down their tainted €'s.
    LUCK (Dennis McHarrie)

I suppose they'll say his last thoughts were of simple things, Of April back at home, and the late sun on his wings; Or that he murmured someone else's name, As earth reclaimed him sheathed in flame. Oh God! Let's have no more of empty words, Lip service ornamenting death! The worms don't spare the hero; Nor can children feed upon resounding praises of his deed. 'He died who loved to live,' they'll say, 'Unselfishly so we might have today!' Like hell! He fought because he had to fight; He died that's all. It was his unlucky night.

    OMG, this pseudo-Paddy Crap again!!

The Gallóglaigh (from the Gaelic for foreign warrior) are the traditional warrior class of gaelic Ireland. The Gallóglaigh are drawn exclusively from Irish Gentlemen, or gentlemen of proven Irish descent, who are graduates of the International Bodyguard Association. The Galloglas is headquartered in Ireland and commanded by Colonel The Chevalier James Shortt, The Baron of Castleshort (An Ridire Séamus MacAnGéarr, An Tiarna na Barúntach na Caisleángéarr).

So, those criteria rule out the liar shortt who certainly isn't a gentleman and was born in Croydon, England.
I'm more Irish than he is as my maternal Grandfather hailed from Co. Waterford.
    Fuck it.
