In those photos there are at least two other men wearing kilts and they are both dressed correctly, sporran hanging over the meat and two veg and everything. Both are wearing white socks.

Yep I noticed a kilt wearer was sporting a tartan that resembles my clan. As for shorttys green socks I imagine its associated with a Irish theme or something? but to me he just looks like a very old, obese, leprechaun, having a bad hair day, trying to party with young girls.
