I have had no contact with him yet, but am considering writing him about the group we belong to as an opening to mention Shortt and the ball. This was probably his first contact with Shortt. Could other people be indentified in the photos and be contacted? How about routinely sending them copies of the news articles in the mail? You wouldn't even have to add any of your own comments, just let the articles say it all.
Don't take this the wrong way and you probably know this anyway but don't imply you represent ARRSE in any way when you contact them, or the CO's and Mods will have a cow. Quite rightly too. Some on here have been seriously bollocked over posts to other forums doing a similar thing.

It might be a good tack to try this and put the word out there a bit.
Choose your targets well as it seems there are an awful lot of walting barstards at the Russian Summer Ball anyway, most of whom probably think shorttarrse is the mutts nuts.
    Fuck it.

Holy Testicle Tuesday!! Are they insane Which is more stupid - the bullet proof photographer or the t0ssers doing the firing with him forward of the firing line? Answers on a postcard please
Unquestionably, it was going to be highly dangerous... And, what the hell, I figured, nobody lives forever!

I remember jim shortt doing something very similar at "Stone Lodge" range near Dartford on my first iba course. There was no one taking pics but the person in the position of hostage does now know what its like to have 9mm parabellum rounds tw4t past there lug holes.

edited to add, I know the bloke well, it was me.

I've seen that photographer before, wondered what he did after he left the army.

    Indeed.
It's over thirty years since I was last on a range but I'm fairly sure you don't turn around whilst holding a weapon, loaded or otherwise until cessation of firing and checks for unloading and weapon clearance are done under the control of the range instructor. You certainly don't point the weapon in any direction other than down range. The guy in the white shirt turns right around FFS, during the exercise with all that racket going on.
This is gung-ho stuff at it's absolute worst.
    Fuck it.

Just been looking at all his photos.

    DEFFO all were posed!

Not a single one looks "natural".

Funny that there is not one "Platoon", "Regimental" or "Company" photograph?

Those are the very ones that I am most proud of!

    A definate Psychopathic Personality disorder!

Re: Shortt Thread: Fun & Frivolity Here

Just watched one of those adverts.....you know the ones:

"We`re cracking down on benefit thieves, you know the kind, get paid for work and dont declare it"

    Put the shits up me!

I was out last night doing my bit for womankind working as a male escort, went the "whole way" earned £50....great!

felt guilty as soon as I saw the advert, so turned myself in and now I`m caught up in the MPs expenses row cos it seems my client "Hazel" has already claimed it as an expense and they are chasing me for tax on £800 entertainment allowance.

Well it is irrelevant I suppose!
