The notion of spineless beaurocrats being to root of all evil and the nursing staff and doctprs beyond criticism is another sacred cow that needs culling
We spend more on health than many other nations whose health services are much better than ours, why is that?

I said that the majority of the staff were there for the right reasons; granted there are bad apples in every barrel, but to get rid of these needs a complete review of the disciplinary procedure, which clearly can't happen now because people all have 'rights.'
I stand by the comment about inefficient management because as an employee of the NHS I am exposed to it every working day.
The NHS is very much a 'jobs for the boys' organisation, with the unions being as guilty as the inept management for its demise.
I fear there is no way back, so it may well be time to "cull the sacred cow".

Perhaps becuase we are the only country in the world to offer a health service that is free at the point of access? Call for an ambulance here and they will do their best to get to you within 8 minutes if it is a category A call, in other countries control will get you a price quotation first and ring around! Got my broken scaphoid fixated and all healed up for free with free physio courtesy of the NHS, colleauges in the USA said the surgery alone would have cost me atleast $5000 if I had needed the same there.
I am lead to believe that it is the Staffs and Shrops PCT's who are taking up the treatments for In-Service Mental Healthcare, since the Priory Group FAILED!
Why reward FAILURE?
New Laibour seem to do nothing else BUT! At least in the Mod they use to move them sideways - Coffee Boy at the Mod . . .
Totally different organisations. It isn't the PCT (which is a different organisation again from the hospital trust slated in the report, though God only knows why they didn't realise something was wrong) that have won the contract, it's a consortium of 7 mental health provider trusts, of which the Staffs/Shropshire MH provider trust is one.
The only similarity is that they cover the same geographical area as the hospital trust, they don't share staff or working practices.
Except the patients of course. NHS patients are specifically excluded from protection under the Human Rights Act. Just one of many reasons why the NHS couldn't care less about killing people.
I heard one MP on PM's questions today say that there are 6 million 'carers' in the UK. I'm gobsmacked.... does this mean that there is one carer for every ten people? Are we a nation of mongs and cripples? WTF is going on? No wonder the NHS [I presume that most 'carers' come under it, quite apart from the thousands of non-frontlne jobsworths in the system] is cattletrucked.
It really needs root and branch reform.
funnily enough I sent a link about this to a mate and said it encapsulated everything wrong with the police.
Process over output and performance over outcome. It would not have happened if the medics had been incharge but leaders have been replaced by unqualifed managers.
I loath the public services some days.. it makes me all most embarrassed of my (crap quality old fashioned) uniform.
