Bugsy, you have my deepest admiration. Please continue, I'm on the edge of my seat (too much cheap French wine and consequently a damp patch on the cushion).
I bought a military watch. It didn't tell me the time, it told me to get my hair cut.
Scribbler of long and boring stories since 2006 with most of them chucked in HERE.

Well, coming from you that's a compliment indeed, Mistersoft. Although I'm not quite sure what I've done to deserve it. :D :D :D

I hope you and yours are well, my friend.

I hardly understand any of this, but it's sure better than watching football on TV!

Has anyone actually said "Welcome to ARRSE, we enjoyed your first post"

Re: Is about time we had a Walt Forum?

www.unsog.org belongs to a Scottsdale Arizona location. The UN official site comes from gee... NYC.

But I sent the webmaster an email to ask why the huge geographical difference.

A separate forum for walt threads is a good idea. However, having seen what over zealous waltfinders can do, one has to play by some sort of rules. My big concern is that without ardent moderation, the dads could end up in a suit that isn't from Savile Row.

(About 5 years ago before she died my gran was at a Remembrance day dinner at the local legion. She was 92 at the time. She had served in the War as a nurse and was wearing her modest set of gongs. A person who can only be described as a social fcukwad, came up to her and tore, yes tore her medals off her blazer and yelled at her for daring to wear her husbands. Needless to say said fcukwad was tackled by accompanying granddaughter and great granddaughter and police were called. Fcukwad was charged with assault. My dear, lovely, pint-sized but hard ass gran went up to him after they had handcuffed him and opened her blazer and pointed to the huge rack of gongs she was wearing on the inside that belonged to her husband who had served his country for over 35 years. The trial was a nightmare for her, and in the end fcukwad got off with a 30 day sentence. He never apologised.

She never went to another service or dinner at the legion again. After the incident, at 1100 every Nov 11th, you would find her standing at attention and flipping the high five in the back garden holding her medals and my grandfather's. )

One more thing that I would be concerned with is that all the threads would just end up a primer for walts. If we continue to point out where they went wrong, it's too easy for the next one to study up and try their hand.

Hi, Bugsy - you cantakerous bu66er
    How do, Bluesy! :D :D :D

I don't think that anybody actually enjoyed his first post, but you're right with the greetings. So: Welcome to ARRSE, "Major" St Clare.

I don't believe I'm being cantankerous, Bluesy. It's just that your man's so evasive, after freely offering to clarify matters, that it set my bullshitometer to twitching.

He could very well be above-board and pukka, it's just that all the allegedly "verifiable evidence" he's offered so far is just his word and repetitions of statements he's already made on the thread. Quite apart from the fact that folks who resort to childish insults in the space of three posts tend to arouse my curiosity anyway.

Still, let's continue to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I believe that would be a supposition too far at the moment, Liney_Lunatic. I’ll just continue keeping an open mind on the subject until I've had a chat with the fella tomorrow.

I’d also like things to pan out well. What is notable about the reaction to date of your man is that it’s all been so depressingly predictable. First came the claims and offers to verify them, then came the insults and the threats of impending judicial proceedings for alleged "defamation of character”. All that’s really missing from this is for some person to show up on the thread, who, by an amazing coincidence only happened to have registered on that day, and start to confirm as completely true all your man’s said to date.

We had it with Caubeen, Golden, Shortty et al.

I’m not in this to “grill” anybody, mucker. I’d just like to see things clarified one way or the other. That’s all.

Yes, I play with words, just as you play with semantics.

But there is a distinct difference playing the amateur sleuth with the "ol' Bill" and the "Corr Blimey" and publically defaming someone's professional character because words are phrased in a such a way as it doesn't fit with your view of the world. You clearly speak the language well but lack understanding in what is essentially a closed society - the police. I've lived and breathed international policing for seven years.

Most people check out a suspicion rather than publically broadcast it first, unchecked; your broadcast is harrassment and defamation of character.

I took the risk openly, knowing that anything I said could backfire against me. Now the risk is yours - the ball's in your court.

Ooh boss help me, them nasty anonymous internet pixies are bullying me!!!!!!

    The only thing that is certain here is that you are an exceedingly dull twat. That doesn't count as defamation of character, because it's true and I have proof;

I play with both words and semantcs, mucker. It’s my stock-in-trade. I’m a professional translator.
But I’d certainly like you to point out to me where, in your opinion, I've engaged in semantics on this thread. It's something I've actively avoided in order not to be misconstrued.

Do you remember the little list of totally predictable steps in my last post? This is part of the stage where you start to become a little unhinged, throwing around terms like “public defamation” and such. It’s got nothing at all to do with my view of the world, but the very fact that you decided to mention that says a lot more about you than it does about me.

I don’t think I lack understanding of your “closed society” at all. Having been involved with Boxheed Old Bill in three federal states on an almost daily basis for 13 years, I’d say that that, rather clumsy, statement lacks any credibility. However, you obviously like to portray yourself as being “in with the in crowd”, so tell me this: do you have a secret handshake? :D

In my opinion, “Major” St Clare, you’re a pompous, arrogant man who believes he’s entitled to respect without having to earn it. That's normally an indication of some deep-seated inferiority complex. But, of course, I could be wrong.

We are are all very conscious that my name now features prominantly in a Google search for the wrong reasons, based on one person's uninformed comments, and your 'suspicions'. Most people check out a suspicion rather than publically broadcast it first, unchecked; your broadcast is harrassment and defamation of character.

In terms of Uwe, I've know this man for over seven years. He's already well aware of any skeletons I have hidden in closet.

He will answer your questions/accusations as a professional manner, knowing that I already consider myself publically harrassed. He's already neen directed to this site.

Knowing this, please be my guest and call Uwe: his details are on the LAFP Foreign Assignments website. Not tomorrow (Wednesday), as he has a meeting in LAFP Selm, accompanied by Gabi Korczak (Administration Officer - and President of IPA Bruehl), however they will both be back on Thursday.

To be fair, I should also point out that he's not just my supervisor, but also the boss of my wife...the police inspector. You'll also see her featured on the same site under "Training 13.2" (Renate Zangari de St.Claire).
Thanks indeed for making me aware of when I can expect to reach yon Uwe. With all the family connections, I’m sure he’ll be utterly impartial.
I’d be very interested to know how you’ve been “publicly harassed”. You came on this website with your claims and I, because I found some of them unclear, queried them. Is that what you class as harassment?

Don’t forget, it was you who offered to provide verifiable evidence to back up these claims. If you can’t or won’t, why not state that right off?

I’ll tell you why, in my opinion: because you thought that all you had to do was throw in a list of all your alleged ranks and marvellous deeds and everybody would clap their hands in delight and offer to buy you a beer for being so utterly fantastic. It didn’t quite work out like that, did it? So you went through the predictable stages already mentioned in my last post, including behind-the-scenes efforts to get the thread deleted. Don’t even you find that rather pathetic?

And what sort of “legal issue” are we looking at here? I've merely asked you a set of questions, documented my own opinion on matters in which I believed you to be wrong and requested you to provide this verifiable evidence that you yourself freely offered.

You maintain that you’ve been harassed and your professional character defamed. I’d love to see you prove that, mucker. Especially in light of this:

So you came on the thread voluntarily and when you had the feeling that you weren’t getting the adulation you feel should be yours by default, you threw a major wobbly.

Just how old are you, “Major” St Clare? Have I bitten big-time and I’m actually conversing with some nitwit 14-year-old schoolkid? Jaisus, if I am, I'll never live it down! In fact, I might even claim compensation from you. :D
