Lovely language, Russian, a wonderful experience the first time I went to Russia and found that, years after the course and some time after I left the Army, folk understood me. Of course, it was easier to discuss tactical nuclear weapons or the correct configuration of the forward reconnaissance patrol than order a steak, but hey ho.
That's sadly something said of the Arabic course too, that a lack of "other" vocabulary was identified. Including words which would be highly relevant to OOTW.

(So I was told, not having been to DSL).

Perhaps those wiser than me will address this in future courses; but it must be said, what they do is a huge task of course.

They deserve much credit and are a bit overlooked as a "luxury", it seems sadly.

Apparently some moderators take themselves very, very seriously, and cannot abide posts such as:
"If however you offer to moderate you may be a sanctimonious, unfunny pissflap to your heart's content."

Some comments are allegedly "very very nasty and uncalled for."

Military humour is much the same the world over. I had a riotous night with a bunch of ex-Vympel folk and they were just as vile as an equivalent bunch of Brits would have been. Keep plugging away, you'll get used to it...
