Give it another 10 years, Mandarin will be the official tongue of sub-saharan Africa. Empire building... what.. eh?

I haven't read all the posts, but may I suggest Scouse as a language to be used by Int. Corps.? The Septics used some sort of Navajo in WWII with the Japs being very confused. Nobody understands Scouse so why NOT?

RWF used their Welsh speakers to avoid local SIGINT capablility in FRY.

Can't remember when that was, it was "Go Dragon's Teeth" or something like that.

Of course, you have to make sure they were all Goggs otherwise no one would understand them......

Scouse wouldn't have been secure in Bosnia. We met at least one fighting on the Croat side.
It was like that when I got here.

If you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined.

Definitely if it's needed for a posting. You can also apply to do shorter courses if you can get off work.

Courses range from a 5 day basic (Hello, where is the bus station? sort of thing), to 4 week colloquial through linguist to 18 month interpreter level (or, at least, in my day they did).

Call me a geek but that is dead exciting! I've always wanted to get another language under my belt. Thank you
