However, when I joined the Corps, anyone asking questions about Masters degrees would have been considered highly suspect, and might well have ended up in the blanco room with bootpolished private parts, so I feel somewhat justified.
But even if an MA was available back in those days, truthfully, how many of us would have been able to find the time to study a distance learning package without the benefits of the yet to be invented personal computers, and where on earth could we find room to fit the CPU ?
I can honestly say I've never gone to bed with an ugly woman - but I've woken up with quite a few !

Degrees are common enough these days, I do however have a fondness for brogues, barbour jackets and gun dogs.

I've been considering doing a masters anyway and then saw this, so thought a few people may have done it.

The CPU, they were in a box body in diamond 2 at Corps HQ. I think they had a table in the tent at Div Main?

Not the original WAVELL CPU on the ground floor of Block 9 in the Corps HQ - that was bigger than my current flat. IIRC there was more than one box body (and I'm not talking about MAIN and STEP UP) for each of the components - and it still didn't work !. Anyone recall the so called "Squaddie Proof" keyboards and screens. Even when they managed to squeeze the new one into the back of a Land Rover for the Brigade HQs, there was no room for the Bleep operator to travel with it - only a driver !

CPU were adjacent to EWCC at Corps if my memory serves me correctly.

Most of them were snivelling with colds in their luxurious accommodation near the IGB, learning to live next to 'The Plastic Pile of Poo' generated by a week or so of makeshift toiletry practise, and being bored to death without any cheap red wine to take the edge off. Rather like being a student (which many were); which takes us full circle to the original question, in a way.
