Re: Int Corps Recruiting, Familiarisation etc...
Does the intel recruit graduated from a scientific background like analytical chemistry or things like that?

Re: Int Corps Recruiting, Familiarisation etc...
1. In your opinion is joining the Int Corps a good career move?
Yes the promotion is usually faster than the rest of the army (provided you ain't a complete arrse!). On that point if you join the RMP you will reach cpl then slowly rot as they have the space for about 3 Sgts.
2. After phase 2 training what type of posting is a new recruit likely to get?
Expect mainland UK int or Sy section. Possiblitly of Germany or NI. What Spindler says is pretty much spot on
3. I have just graduated from Uni with a 2:1, if I were to join the ranks would my degree help in terms of promotion? I.e. would I get promoted quicker?
No, there are plenty of the people in the corps with degrees they don't really mean much, i don't have a degree and i am doing just as well, if not better, as my peers who do have degrees.
4. Do Int soldiers get some real responsibly early on in their careers?
Again i agree with Spindler on this point.
5. What is phase 2 training like? Is there a lot of parades, inspections etc. Or is it more relaxed than phase 1?
You will look back on Phase 1 and realise it was easy, you just have to take it one day at a time. Phase 2 is nothing like Phase 1. When i went through Phase 2 (approx 3 years ago) we had a monday moring muster parade at 8am where the CSM inspected us. Nothing too challenging just had to make sure kit was ironed and boots where polished. We also had weekly room inspections on thursday. Again nothing challenging just a quick nose around the room to make sure you were not living in a hell hole, this might have changed with the new Z-type accomodation though.

Re: Int Corps Recruiting, Familiarisation etc...
Hello everyone. Is anyone here able to comment on the kind of debt level that would make someone unacceptable to the Int. Corps?

It is manageable debt, and will be cleared pretty quick if I enlist and start earning a decent wage. As this is pretty normal these days I imagine it is not the kind of debt that would bar me from the Corps, but can anyone here put my mind at rest on that please?

I don't think that there is a specific figure: provided that it is a. manageable and b. you don't try to hide it, there shouldn't be a problem.

ok, we've had a few posts on "this is what to expect" and so on, but what about things that will kill an application to the corps dead in the water?

I don't know... turn up drunk, offer the interviewer a drag on your spliff... that kind of thing. More seriously, any dire problems should turn up during the informal stages of the process as with any other transfer.

Chickenpunk is spot on here. Its not the sum of money thats the problem but how you can manage it.

Nearly everyone has some debts.

Criminal convictions of a serious nature. When I was at Ashford doing CCS one of my squad got kicked out because he had a conviction for dope dealing that he had "failed to mention" on his enlistment forms.

(actually, take a look at 90% of the sections and you can see that is a lie).
