Re: Questions about joining the Infantry
Mate, I know you can go for Officer with Royal Marines with just 5 g.c.s.e's grades A-C including Maths and English. So I'm assuming it will be the same in the British Army. What I do know is that the more well qualified you are the faster you move up ranks etc.... So if you finish your A levels and do well you will be in a much better position to get were you want to be much faster. If you go to University before signing up you will be even better off, when coming to sign up as an officer. The more educated you are as a civvy the better. Be more careful with spelling on here there's lots of people who hate lazy spelling mistakes. But don't worry I've been called illiterate on here many times I'm just looking out for you. Good luck whatever you choose to do!

Re: Questions about joining the Infantry
Hey, im just looking an opinion on my joining up process.
Im thinking of doing my AS levels next year, to have some qualifications behind me for a back up after the army.
Can i continue my application process and do all selection and interviews but tell my recruiter i want to stay in school for one more year? My thinking behind this is that if i pass all selection i will be able to join up soon after i finish my exams next may time, (assuming there will be a place for me.)
Or should i leave my application process till a few months before i sit my exams and begin it all again?

Re: Questions about joining the Infantry
Hi, i just went into the AFCO with a view to joining the Rifles (Im a Marine Cadet and want to serve with the Marines in 1st Bttn.). However, as a child I had a bone disease in my hip called perthes. It has since healed and I have worked u to the neccessary level of fitness, although i was told at twelve not to do cross country running for a couple of years (im fifteen now and theres no problems). Since i do not actually have the disease any more, and have no problems such as reduced joint movement or inability to do PT (do it with marine cadets), I was wondering whether I would be barred entry into the infantry, or worse, the army in general?

Re: Questions about joining the Infantry
Just a quick question I wondered if anyone could answer. I am from Tyneside and I am thinking of joining the Infantry but I am a little confused as to which regiment is the County regiment for Tyne & Wear?
According to the recruting area map its the Yorkshire Regiment but I have heard others say its The Rifles and others The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers?
Thanks!
