    Tunnel vision as I said.
R Anglian had seven battalions when we were formed.

I have to say the worst day of my military service was the day that they announced the end of the Queens Regiment and that we were to amalgamate wthh the Royal Hamsters a truly sad time for all.

I truly feel for the troops that are about to have the axe of amalgamation/disbandment fall upon their shoulders.
All those who sit in parliament should hand their heads in shame at what they are doing to the forces like Fuc& will they though we are nothing but second class citizen's to them little toy solders to be played with when needed and put in a box in a cupboard when not.
Increase the TA they say yeh right I am sure joe blogs is going to sprint to the recruiting centre to sigh up after seeing how the troops have been shafted on ops.
How many fully manned TA infantry Battalions have we got at the moment?
Queensman, OPPO and wm1965 like this.
Pissed off and skint so no change then

The R Hamps being forced onto the Queens was indeed a sad day - the R Hamps had nothing going for them whatsoever, but all water under the bridge now.

It's a shame though that the really under-recruited Regiment, the Scots, won't get cut as far as it deserves, as its recruiting levels are dire. But, politics and all that...

I'm betting the SCOTS lose two Bns - one will disappear: 2SCOTS (RHF), one will become TA: 5SCOTS (A&SH). Leaving 3xRegular Bns and 3xTA Bns. The next cuts (2015)? will see off 1 more regular SCOTS Bn and an under recruited TA Bn leaving 2xRegular and 2xTA. Hopefully any pretense at Golden Threads will be binned.

I would have thought precisely none, although I may be doing a disservice to both 4 PARA and the LONDONS who seem to be pretty well recruited. As an aside, the situation for TA regiment in my own Corps - R Signals - is little short of dire.

What's wrong with calling an amalgamation of PWRR, RRF, and RAng, the Queen's Regiment? It's a good title, call the Private soldiers Fusiliers, wear the Anglian's cap badge, PWRR collar dogs/subdued buttons and the RRF hackle.

The logical outcome of Tranche 3, or is it Tranche 4? FR2020 costed a Regular Army of 75,000. My guess is that we will go down to 60,000 Regular and 30,000 TA.

LONDONS fully recruited? you're having a laugh. However 2 R IRISH are bursting at the seams.
