Tanks are easily identified, easily engaged, much-feared targets which attract all the fire on the battlefield. When all is said and done, a tank is a small steel box crammed with inflammable or explosive substances which is easily converted into a mobile crematorium for its highly skilled crew."

to give the boring answer, yes they were. Well they were with 1 Queens in Werl in 1975 - 1979 and I seem to remember that each rifle Coy had two, one for fuel and the other for general cargo with a few other scattered around the Bn. Cant remember much about it as I was a Pte stuck in the back of a 432

I think you'll find 'B' vehicles in general were pretty shit at 'swimming',and loaded 4 tonnes weren't 'Gods answer' on 'Tac routes',but the cabs were handy for stowing your gear!
