Cav4756, I heard on the grape vine that the King's Own Fusiliers were all being cut. Sergeant Paddy Garvey and Fusilier Dave Tucker to be first out the door.

"The Intelligence officer - or non-commissioned officer - with his enquiring mind, his refusal to accept everything at face value, and with his interest in what has happened limited to the help it will be in in estimating what is going to happen, is "different", and therefore still, to a certain extent, suspect."

They must be hoping that a lot of the blokes who get the boot will be straight off to join the TA after they leave, doesn't the TA struggle to get enough to deploy as it is, or get people to stay in long enough to do more than one tour?
What would happen if someone on the reserve list was called up and didn't or refused to show up?

I think that's exactly what they are hoping, yes and yes.
TBH I don't know exactly what the real sanctions are, but at the moment I think it is merely a case of saying "no thanks - Bye." and handing the kit in. There is certainly no US style model of police turning up at your house if you don't parade - and they do this for weekend training, never mind mobilisation.
It's been done to death on other parts of this site but the main problem with the compulsion bit is that no one in the head shed has put forward a decent idea as to how introduce it without effectively making STABs unemployable to 99% of employers.Last edited by theblindking; 09-02-2012 at 02:11.

I hear in Tranche 3 they are disbanding the whole of UKSF! It's my math, like, innit
"See The Little Faggot With The Earring And The Make-Up
Yeah Buddy That's His Own Hair
That Little Faggot Got His Own Jet Airplane
That Little Faggot He's a Millionaire"
