British NCO Earns Ranger Tab
I just stumbled across a short article about a Grenadier Guardsman who completed the US Army Ranger School. I'm sorry if it's been posted before.
http://www.ranger.org/documents/rang...llWinter09.pdf
I know that a good many people in the British forces have earned their US wings on exchange visits and so on, but I don't think I've ever heard of any earning the Ranger Tab before.
Is Sergeant Major Bissett the first to do so?Excerpt from The Four Slappers of the Apocalypse.
And when I had opened the fourth beer, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and her that sat on him was the wife, and Hell followed with her......

Not bad for an old man either, which must have smarted a few colonials!
Thanks to all who read my little contributions and don't shout nasty words at me, it means so much and I like the likes. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank my parents for their tremendous support throughout my career and without whom I would not be standing here today. Also my agent, she's been my rock.
Do be careful though as Hector and his clique may descend upon you with their stock in trade proclamations of your inherent inferiority. And as it's the internet, they get off on it.

Hooah Ranger. :P
Timing is everything. If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. If you're late, you're fucked.

Re: British NCO Earns Ranger Tab
My Squadron Sergeant Major at 58 Field Squadron RE was ranger qualified and wore the tab so not quite the first. Still good drills though.

Re: British NCO Earns Ranger Tab
A S/NCO from 2 RGJ, Roy Stanger, passed the Ranger Course in the early 70's, he used to wear the tabs on his No.2 Dress and they looked pretty good being similar to the old RGJ Gold/Black/Green rank badges. Finished up a Major too!
There is always to be seen just a little strip of Green, on the left of the Thin Red Line!
“Our rulers will best promote the improvement of the nation by strictly confining themselves to their own legitimate duties, by leaving capital to find its most lucrative course, commodities their fair price, industry and intelligence their natural reward, idleness and folly their natural punishment, by maintaining peace, by defending property, by diminishing the price of law, and by observing strict economy in every department of the state.”

I do believe you are correct in that CY's missus was a female Ranger.

Re: British NCO Earns Ranger Tab
I don't believe that the course is open to females as it's an Infantry course.

I seem to recall Capt Jeremy "Audie Murphy" McKenzie wearing a Ranger badge in 1970...
..didn't seem to do him any harm!

When I was in (mid 90's) we had a Sgt in 2RRF who had passed it some time previously. Wore the flash on his no.2's
