    Re: Apple iSlate

I'm interested in the device and the rumor is that a 10" display model is coming out in late Jan or Feb. I have an iPod touch that I use now and it covers me just fine on trips & cruises where I can find a WiFi set-up. I'm hoping that this new device just isn't a large version of the iPod touch.

There is also a rumor that the device will be able to hook-up with some of the major Mobile phone services here in the USA like Verizon, etc. (Along with WiFi.) That would be handy as well.

Don't tell me you'll be able to hold it up to your ear during a phone call as well...

There's been duty rumours coming out of Cupertino, among other places, that it'll be stuffed to the gills with 3G, wi-fi, Bluetooth etc. A good article I read the other day on TUAW covers this subject quite well:

    Wasn't that said somewhere before?

I think any company that maintained such a strict, do it my way or not at all, level of control over developers and users would be able to make an awesome integrated product.

Don't get me wrong I love Apple products and when iSlate comes out, I'll probably buy one, and later when men with bigger foreheads then me jailbreak it. I'll reap the benefits and make a more use-able/free device.
The beauty of not planning is that failure comes as a complete surprise and is not preceded by a period of nauseous worry and depression

    Re: Apple iSlate

Tablets have been knocking about for some time. The iPhone is an overpriced substandard phone with tablet functionality. It's as revolutionary as an Apple II was in its way. And I do mean that as a compliment.

Withe the netbook market rapidly evolving and the eReader vendors have pretty much screwed the long term pooch by going rapaciously proprietary and with eInk the iSlate has a gap in the market.

There are also aging half blind iPhone dependents who just want a decent bloody screen to waste their desperate retinas on and others who'll inevitably be tied to the company iTunes store buying endless shit.

I won't be buying an iSlate. I probably will be buying a no name product that does much more for much less by Q3 2010.
That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on!
