I don't have any special insight into this and therefore can't vouch for it but because of something which seeped into the public domain a few years back regarding Gurkhas, individual Gurkha ORs may perhaps have served in NI in more than one sense of the word 'served'.

I may well be spouting cr@p, but those whose memories are jogged by the terms, Four Square and Gemini and a WRAC MM, will know what lines I'm thinking along.

Queen's Gurkha officers on attachment with units in the light div or units with a GRC attached (when they were last in existance) went on tour with Brit bns from the late 90s onwards. Generally as ops offr in BBK or similar.
IIRC Indra went with an LI company. I met a 2RGR QGO in BBK in early 99.

I saw a Gurkha wearing the RGR capbadge driving a Bedford in Ballykinlar Camp circa 2004/2005

Ghurkhas definately served / patrolled in Dungannon about 12 years ago (If I recall correctly the "republicans" kept a low profile during the tour and were quite wary of them)

I have seen our Gurkhas in Palace, 39 Bde, Dungannon, Bessbrook & Gurkha Sigs at various locations. The locals & Bon Jovi's were strangely silent and scared. Top guys

I worked with an ex cook who says he had to cook for Gurkhas over in NI...but he was a cook so might have been mistaken!! ;)

Excuse my ignorance but what is a Bon Jovi in NI terms?

He is the rock god in my opinion and it would be cool to know what else his name is used for.
