Re: Memories of Woolwich
Bdr McLaughlin - remember him well - shortest of the three !! Nice guy good instructor - came from Hy Regt if my memory is correct. Met up with Sugar again at RSA in the mid 80's - told him it was me who "bounced" his car tight between 2 gateposts on the way back from the pub one night (he was out for blood the following morning !!! ) it was bang centre between the concrete posts with about 6" clearance front & back - laughed all the way back to the block - he retired in the RSA local area. We only had the 3 instructors on my intake so can't help with DI. Gawd 34 years ago - wish I could go back & do it all again !!!! :D

Re: Memories of Woolwich
Colenso 1985
The dell & it's underwater tunnels.......deep joy.
Sgt mullins & his favorite saying "Get there at the double spunk bubble"
Nodding off in the map reading lessons.
Bed blocks & on the first room inspection being asked to tip my own bed upside down :D
After learning to bull boots being told on another inspection to jump on Gnr Glynn williams boots.
Going to the nick & having to hold the fire bucket at arms length (ouch).
Changing parades.
Pay parades on the middle floor of the block.
Winning the trophy.
Being an absolute shower of S*** on the passout parade practise, all orders were echoing off the main building (that was our excuse to Sgt Chadwick of 7 rha).
Going in to soho & Gnr Ray getting fleeced £75 for a pint of cola
Being ordered as a troop to give one gungy individual a regimental bath (bass broom & vim in the shower). Still feel bad about that but the individual concerned cleaned up.
That great feeling when going home on leave, just sitting at waterloo station watching the world rush by.
Volunteering to learn to ride a motorbike with 3 others........first lesson in never volunteering...only got to wash displayteams bikes.
The feeling of pride at passing out to join the gunners.
I could go on & on the more I write the more I remember, but from here it was on to 5 Hvy & the 107 :D
Thats me done
Rounds complete.

Re: Memories of Woolwich
Yes I think it was, but was a few years ago now so the memory is not so hot with some names.
