message to the sufferajet he he
i made the whole time in fact if you read it youd have read i passed out in the band under the guidance of tm's Cooper and Hunt
    and was in campbell troop
i know one of the sas perminant staff from the barn (dolwydellin)very well
i was in the special forces for a while.
well done for being so full of courage to stop smoking
now to your quote regarding bogard troop..
the apwt used to involve respirator runs a lot as well as the stand too with cs lances in the bashers while you slepped
and yes the physical things were absolutely wrong
the confidence course in the wet and it was purely wood like soap many a broken limb.
the assault course with cs gas thrown into the tunnel
and so it went on he he
did it make a man of us?
no we became men in spite of it!

3 the guy who had his head wired up for his jaw to set
    4 blow job debbie
5 dap dap the ex scot guard a lovely guy i met him both before i joined and after i left he was under pressure from officers and was posted there on punishment bot loved the area and requested an extension

10 short arse cunliffe always cheeky and getting promoted
11 i left wingate and went to campbell troop(we won champion troop)
12 i was from nuneaton i was local boy who passed out in the band.

13i knew what sort of people wherer here before and saw them for a long time after too
14 i was your whipping boy, the minger you thaught in fact i wasnt i was just getting to grips with family tragidy and training all at the same time of wich i settled and did with no help from the staff till i went to campbell.
15 the barber was a local and had a shitty little shop just down the road on the way into town,
16 the police closed the bistro becouse of the under aged drinking and the trouble it caused with the locals.
    i was in the band
    tha boxing team
    the swimming team
and was as fit as a flea eventually joining special forces (TA)
    oh my number...24512...
we had it hard and we were like a pressure cooker but the staff didnt help they provoked a lot of the bullying and in some cases encouraged it
dont forget ive seen it and whitnessed it for longer than most..
    i saw the bullying
the stupid unneccisarry beastings and greaseouts at some rediculous times

One or two points to reply to your missiv

    1. Cunliffe didn't get any promotion
    2. Can't remember you in the boxing team
    3. Can remember you joined the band at the first opportunity
    4. If people couldn't hack it or thought the regime was too harsh they had numerous opportunities to jack it in.

Yes there was bullying which can not be condoned, but the tough and rough times did help to produce men from boys (even the ones who joined the band).

As to leadership, I left as a Jnr Gnr but scaled to the dizzy heights to RQMS, many have gone a lot further than I did.

But you seem to dwell on the negatives, maybe you are a negative person by default, others are optomists who view their time there as a "right of passage" the transition through adversity on the path to becoming a man.

All said and done, no-one died while we were there. The strong ones handled the pressure, the ones who decided it wasn't for them left.

I could go on but I don't want to steal anyones thunder.

I have just read a lot of entries. It is a shame that there are no lads from my era. I joined at Hereford in 1958, Alanbrook,
it must have been before they invented bricks. Known as wooden H Blocks. But they were good times, the punchups, the cider
football, pillow fights in the EWS(Emergency Water Supply) Like any institution there was a heirachy (not military) within the lads themselves
Over a period of time you established yourself within that heirachy and it became a settled life. We then moved to Bramcote, sometime in 1959.
I mustered in March 1960. Funny I don't remember much about Bramcote.

Hi Guys, Anyone out there from 89 intake (July 4th was the registration day). I was 16 on the 4th....so properly 16 and out the door. I was in Stirling Troop and I think Dixon was on top from memory. I played for the JLRRA football team under BSM Hamzat and another coach called Terry Naylor (Ex-Tottenham pro) both great coaches anf football players.....taught me loads.

Sgt Franklin was from 7RHA and remember he got a bit carried away one day and ended up breaking his arm lol the other Sgt was a little tubby chap from 39 Rgt.
Met some great guys that year, Wheeler, (played the bass drum) Bisset,(Manchester) Sandler,(Havent).

Ended up getting posted to 22 AD regt in Dortmund, have been out now 21 years, but still seems like last year.
Sure I remember Franklin and the other names that you mentioned. I was unfortunately back squaded just before the last term for knackering my leg skiing in Italy. The name Paul Knight rings a bell as well.
