Because that is the normal issue for girls, if they manage the weight carring the next biggie is living in the OP...of which cling flim and fanta bottles play a big part. Unless is doesnt bother you (and you other half....'What daya mean they are going ta see ya curl one out???) having someone lay next to you while you do 'it', possibly even help you hold holding the bag or bottle.... if it does then try another trade.

Na I get to see enough piss, shit and blood in my job so I don't really feel that phased by it. And my other half is a bootneck... all he'd probably say to that is "you're hoofing!"... How much was the weight carry again 25kg?

    25kg??? Nah... not quite.

55lbs for the basic 'long weight carry' but then the bergans go up to small adult weight for actual Ops. So maybe 100lbs, 120lbs, plus rifle, plus belt kit. You will basically be carrying all you need for 2-3 weeks on your back.

55lbs = 25kg roughly... I know I can do that because i've ran before with that much. As for 120lbs I best start practicing load carries often then! To be fair they do say you should be able to carry at least 100% of your body weight so it's not unachievable it'd just take some work. Have you got any solid info on the patrols course? I can't find anything decent anywhere.

you won't find any solid info, that's the point, plus it has a habit of changing.

Its nice you can run with 25kg, but you don't do that much running, mainly because that's start off weight, when you get to OP phase the weight increases dramatically as you have to carry all the OP kit which isn't just some funky scopes, it includes shovels , picks and the roof for your hasty option which weighs a frigging ton, all dead weight.

But even if you can handle the weight you have the added bonus of carrying it across some pretty shitty ground, if your patrol commander biffs up and takes you up a cliff face, you will feel it, trust me, I was that patrol commander and what a popular chap I was.

Oh and finally being happy to take a dump in front of others, small point, we don't mean you stroll over to a corner in the hole and squat down, no, we mean you do it laying on your side right next to your mucker and HE will hold the cling film open for you as space is at a premium.

What I would like to know is why you want to do it in the first place, is it the burning desire to do this type of role or the challenge of the course ?

In all seriousness and without writing an absolute essay, I think it's a combination of both. It's the closest I can get being female to an commando/sniper recce type role (except SRR obviously). At the same time I'd like to experience the physical and mental challenge to see where my capabilities lie.

Obviously lying next to someone shitting would not be pleasant, nor enjoyable although, I would feel worse for the person having to catch it. But if that's part of the job then so be it.
The weight carrying aspect does sound horrendous but again it comes with the job.

I can't say I know what I'd be like in those circumstances until I'm actually there and doing it myself, but I would like to give it my best shot if given the chance.

    Thanks for your response.

My confusion is however in that are you even allowed to do the course, due to the high likely chance of capture I would assume it off limits to the female gender, it was in my day, the only females in the Battery were in the CP.

You are I hope aware that females have attended the All Arms Commando Course with one success
