They guard Windsor quite often (which is also part of the Queen's Guard although the big two are Buckingham Palace and St James' Palace), but have stood Guard outside Buckigham Palace too. Quite a stink during one guard, as some of them were naughty and got caught on CDT. Oddly enough it made the news at teh time... had a mate who was posted there at teh time (not one of the naughty ones, but he was fuming that it was in the national press).
Pretty sure they are used to stand in, on occaision... and they wake you up at silly o'clock the morning after (sunday) so they can ride horses around in the car park.
Here it is in fact...

For the past three weeks, the King's Troop has been guarding Buckingham Palace and other royal residences and this duty will end later today.Last edited by chocolate_frog; 12-06-2011 at 21:11.

But Windsor Castle isn't classed as a Queens Guard, it's a Royal Guard.
Hence why when Grenadiers mount guard they state
Gdsm Fucknuckle Buckingham/St James' Palace detachment of The Queens Guard
or
Gdsm Fucknuckle of the Windsor Castle Guard
or
Gdsm Fucknuckle Her Majesties Main Guard the Tower of LondonZARATHUSTRA: Tyrant, (Pseudo) Bully, Mad With Power and infamous Camberley Flat Thief.

Is it? I thought it was classed as the same... especially if the Queen was at home. Or maybe it is just when the Queen is residing at Windsor. Or maybe I am wrong on that count.
Either way, they've stood on Queen's Guard too. Not sure if there is a list of units that have stood guard and when on t'interweb.
