hi fellas, im wanting to join RA 5th as a radar operator and im a little confused by some of the comments on this thread.... I have my 2nd interview next week, once iv passed that I should hopefully have date soon for selection. I just have 2 questions, if I put my preference down at larkhill as the 5th will I get that place or will I simply be placed in a different role and different regiment? can someone give me abit of background info on the job, iv researched tirelessly but can only seem to find people opinions on here which most of the time isnt that constructive and the BA website is pretty useless, thanks again, SJC

Im a wee bit confused too if someone could help. Far too many batterys..
I've been looking at 5 rgt, and 32 rgt. I know every fuckers gonna be looking at joining 32 and I've heard theyre not taking on at the mo.
I want to join as an OP assistant, been told that fst is the way forward. Does every regiment have its own fst? (looked into 4/73 and im nowhere near fit enough for that)

Yes mate i know. But its not permanently full. I have personally spoken to a captain from 32RA, he advised me put 32 (or even 47 for that matter)in preference list and they will see which one i can get by the time i start phase 2. I start my phase 1 in FEB 2012, so phase 2 will be around JUNE next year. I am 90% likely to get either of these regs. And even if you dont get your choice, u can defer ur phase 2 and wait for a vacancy if u r not willing to do anything else. Thats wat i m doing, 32/47 OR Nothing. ITS OUR CHOICE , They can pressurize you to take whatever is on the table at the moment, but CANNOT force to do if u r determined.

Just-Ian,
You cannot put those Regiments as your choices.
1. If you select a specialist Regiment it must be as your first choice.
2. You can only select one specialist Regiment.
3. Any choice after a specialist mat be taken as your back up (if you fail to make the grade at your chosen specialist unit)

I got a 74 score for my Barb TEST, one of the recruiters told me that RHA1 are going on tour in feb 2013, can anybody clarify this for me as this will seriously sway my decision making during my selection. I go to Pirbright on the 26th of March and i genuinely would like to go on Tour. This may sound silly to a lot of you guys who have been on tour as your maybe thinking "stupid civvie hasn't got a clue".
I just want to experience first hand what it is like, I am mature and well motivated and just want to make a good career for myself.
Cheers
