BT. Couldn't agree with you more but, let's face it, NATO is pretty well a spent force now. It doesn't seem to know what it's there for and in Libya only 8 NATO members have been involved, probably not all of them active, and others have deliberately avoided being involved. NATO was, after all, set up to act as a opposition to Soviet threats in Eastern Europe and was a Cold War concept. That has now gone leaving NATO in a bit of quandary with the UK trying to be more part of Europe quite rightly in my view. Had we listened to Europe we would never have become involved in the Iraq fiasco. I am still a bit unhappy as to why NATO (aka the UK and France) are so determined to assist the Libyans? Not that their cause is just, it is, but I am afraid I smell oil here. The fact is, of course, that Battlefield warfare will, I suggest, be a thing of the past and the need for MBT's and heavy artillery somewhat limited.
Have just had an update email from Regt. Sec regarding 1 RTR deployment on Herrick next year. Deleted it by mistake. Can one of you repost it on here? Good range of jobs and roles. Process of handing over CBRN to RAF should be complete by end of this year.
I saw it as well give me 10 to find it again.
Thanks. Seen where you posted it in Afg Thread
Bear in mind the amazing announcement that the "future" is in a lot more TA or Reserve forces. Not sure where that will leave the RAC and capbadges as a whole! Bringing back the Snatch Rovers???????
