The Autobahn A5 Southbound(towards Karlsruhr) is CLOSED between Heidelberg and Schwetzingen for at least a week from today.Avoid the area if you can its murder. The reason is that some bright spark damaged 2 bridges with an over high load and they both have to be demolished. After the Southbound side is finished the Northbound (towards Frankfurt,Main) will be CLOSED. If anyone is comming this way let me know your destinatilon and I´ll try and find an alternatve route for you.
Many thanks for the heads up have advised our vehicles in the area. Take it the Autobahn is closed between junctions 37 & 40. Please advise if the A6 (E50) & A656 are badly affected. Any further information would be greatly appreciated.
@Emsav the diversions are gridlockd as its the end of the Easter Holidays here. Will advise as I find out more
Thanks for the update, have advised our vehicles approaching the area to avoid completely. Have recommended using Stuttgart - Strasbourg or Frankfurt - Luxembourg when coming from the east.
They hope to reopen the A5 in both directions on Friday morning(I wouldn´t put money on it) If useing the A61 there are road works on the Rhein Bridge by Speyer with a 60 KMH speed limit. There are permenant speed cameres BOTH ways so watch your speed!
Most kind of you to update everyone. Really shows that this little community cares for each other. Keep up the good work. Be blessed
The A5 is open again but they are going to close it by Karlsruhe for 20.04 for up to 3 days again
Here is a link to the Badenwüttemburg Straßen und Verkehrs Amt giving notice of all the roadworks here. Baustellen-Informationssystem Baden-Württemberg Its only available in German so if you want detailed info let me know
Merci bien - A brilliant link that will help us enormously. Have a German national working in our traffic office who will take charge of your link. Again our profound thanks.
