Ive got a Prussian campaign on Hard/Hard , if its land battles and a tough campaign you want...
They have no allies to start off , and only two divided territories.
My UK campaign just needs finishing turn wise - 60 odd turns to go and I own all of the US , most of europe (bar Russia, Austria & the Ottomans) and half of India. Mortars a most definetley the mutts nuts with precussion shells too :D
1780-ish; I own all of the Americas, less for the Plains Indians, or whoever they are on the edge of the map. Have all of India, Ceylon, Persia, Georgia. Just clearing my way along the North African coast - luckily the pirates grabbed some provinces off the Ottoman Empire, so I haven't upset them by taking this out. Just clearing out Spain and Gibraltar, so I can have unrestricted access to the Med - i've been mass-producing first rates for some time, so can't wait to hoover up all the other fleets sat on my trade routes....
Questions about enemy Priests/Imams & other agents: whenever I take over territory, I demolish the existing religious buildings, and build new proddy church schools.
a) how much damage do enemy agents do when they are bimbling around my territory? I can't see any effect at all;
b) how come my newly-built church schools carry on spawning Catholic/ Muslim agents? Is this a game bug - aren't they supposed to be my own Protestant missionaries?;
c) is there a reliable way to kill off enemy agents? Using Rakes and Gentlemen to do the hit seems very ineffective - e.g. currently I've got two Rakes trying to slot an enemy bishop turn after turn - the bugger seems bullet proof, and occasionally my Rake is "discovered and executed", even though he's in my own territory!
Had to us old moniter as new ones fecked, but game finally on and running, steam is a bag of shite but well cant do out without it so at least game runs.
1764, all technologies researched (wondering what the point is of aboloshing slavery! all it does is makes the rich more unhappy, and increases the cost of plantations by 30%...). pulling in about 160k a turn, holding off on taking gibraltar and malta - going to do it the hard way, by sweeping in from the NE against france and spain.
just because i can, its more fun and i want a challenge - maybe start a war with poland and russia too!
i'm amazed i get so much money per turn. from the beginning, the only people who would take trade agreements with me are the dutch, portuguese and the ottomans. all the rest hate me. think i will play as a catholic country next - maybe spain. opportunity for US conquest as well as a land sweep - starting with those bastard french bastards!
did anybody else get the special forces edition? HMS Victory is awesome, rogers rangers just got wiped out by cavalry... the goorkhas are easy prey to firearms. wondering about the ottoman organ cannon? looks a bit like a mounted HMG - anyone use it?
also - i assume other nations have their own "elite" units? GB has the green jackets, guards (can only recruit about 6 or 8 of them), household cavalry (same)... and the ferguson riflemen? you can only recruit one unit of them, but on paper they seem inferior to the RGJ. any experience of them?
just curious - what about the other nations? i mean, the french must have a unit of white flag raisers, or weapon droppers, or something
Thank heavens for save games...got a bit cocky when taking over India and in North America whilst transiting troops down to Gibralter. Got my arrse spanked back to the stoneage in India, lost N America to the Hurrons and had my fleet sunk (which was carrying lots of troops destined for Gib) by a Spanish/French combo action. Lessons learned
Just started, in Canada lost my province to Hurons, captured Florida and Georgia, then lost them to Cherokee. Came into the side of Austria, and had my shipping routes lost to Prussia, sent fleets to recapture shipping lanes, forgetting armies on board so lost them as well.
The French have Highlanders and couriers de bois (or whatever the feck theyre called). Poles get winged hussars , Austrians get some skirmishers with wierd guns (air rifles and double barrelled rifles) . I dont think the dutch get anything special on land , but they get some different naval tech I think. The Yanks get special hunter/woodsmen light infantry. Ive not got the special forces addition though.
