Re: Best Internet provider
I've been with Virgin for just over a year now, as part of an overall phone/cable/internet package. In that time, I've only had one occasion when I couldn't connect - last summer when local flooding damaged some cabling. No idea what their customer service is like when you have a problem, as I've never had to deal with them (which might be a recommendation in itself!).
'Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.'

+1 for VM's (Ex-NTL) 3-in-1 package (use their 20mb line). Spoken to their CS department a number of times & it's always a helpful Welsh bloke on the other end. One of their engineers came out the next day after I made a call & replaced a damaged router cable (not part of their hardware) free of charge when my internet wasn't working.

Zen. You'll need a BT phoneline but other than that they offer 1 month contracts at a reasonable price and their customer support is second to none. Used BT before and they were sh*te as were Tiscali. Ukonline were alright though.

Be for me, same as 02, you need to be LLU'd at the exchange so not available everywhere. Went from 2 mb with BT to 17 mb with Be. Got their own forum where staff answer quite quickly.
