Thanks FNUSNU - some useful info there! I did message SOG and got this back though:
Dear GH, members of any foreign military are only authorized to use our facilities when on orders stationed at a US Army installation and have been issued a Military Common Access Card. If this applies to you, you would just need to come to Shades of Green with your common access card to purchase your tickets.I never apologise. IM SORRY, that's just the way I am!

Your very welcome! This must be new or at least the official line. UK personnel aren't allowed to stay on site, however I've always been able to go to SOG (get the bus from Epcot) just to buy the tickets and the staff have been ok.

I emailed SOG and got this:
"With your current military ID you would be eligible for any of the discounted tickets that we carry here. The only tickets that you would not be eligible for would be Disney Salute ticket for 4 days and the free ticket to Universal."
I also know someone who went in March and was allowed to buy the 4 day military salute tickets (only WDW - not the Universal one) but I wouldn't bank on that, just depends who's on the desk I suppose.
