As our travel & subsistence budget has just been halved (just 4 months into the FY), I reckon it is unlikely that any money will be spent on a nugatory retention issue.

Look around you; just who is leaving the Services other than those who have to?

Re: LSAP (Long Service Advance of Pay)

Interesting points made from all, I applied for LSAP when purchasing my first place and despite being easily within all requirements to recieve it after much delay and (as is often the case) badgering the clerks about the issue I was turned down, strange as mate of mine in exactly the same situation was accepted, our careers and positions were exactly the same. My belief is that it was a complete cluster fcuk by the clerks at the time but from what I have read Im glad it fell through, Im aware that some people have had fault-free times with LSAP but I think there may be more then meets the eye.

I wanted to bump this thread up to see if anyone had a more recent experience with LSAP. I'm only a few K away from a 20% deposit which will give me a much better rate and think I'll take the £5k to avoid the tax. (Anyone know what the tax is out of interest?)

    Thanks in advance FNUSNU

My LSAP is currently making its way from the MOD bank to my solicitors bank. For some reason the MOD insist on making the transfer by BACS (which takes 7 days) rather than an electronic transfer which is instant. For that reason I am still sat in my quarter and not my new house.

The application was simple (having read all of the relevant chapter in the JSP), but why the F**k does the doctor have to sign it??
