Discuss Casino Royale, a Darker Less Cheesy Bond? at the Films, Music and All Things Artsy forum within the The Army Rumour Service website; Saw it yesterday : a much, much darker, more brooding Bond. And the end of ...
The great question that has never been answered, and which I have not yet been able to answer, despite my thirty years of research into the feminine soul, is "What does a woman want?"
I thought the ending was a bit rushed, especially given all the time spent over in the hotel. Excellent film, although a few loose ends still niggling at me.
absolutely great, get to find out how he gets his 'OO' status, by beating someone to death in the khazi, and drowning him in the wash hand basin, makes that Jack Bauer look like a mincing fairy...

The original book is a very dark and brutal thing with Bond as a moderately competent although somewhat damaged character who is subjected to and accepting of extreme violence.
If you read the book you will come away with no love of the character. The James Bond of the books is a hard drinking man, a world war 2 naval officer with little care for others and certainly not the dinner suited brothel creeper as portrayed in the films.
The character is hard as a woodpecker's lips.
Daniel Craig actually gets closer to the rather unpleasant charcter in the books than ayone else who's played him, IMHO. There was a little too much love story but pretty good overall!
Without wishing to give it away its not what you see on the torture seen its what you understand to be happening. Saw plenty of young ankle biters (6 upwards) in the cinema.
Depends on whether Litotes Jnr has been numbed to violence at an early age like most of society.[/quote]
Thanks for that, BigRed. Litotes jnr has been kept away from most "bad" things but he is pretty mean with Lego Star Wars on the computer.....
Civvygit you slacker, suggest you get yourself along to the pictures before a tw*t like me spoils it for you, best be quick now...
Ratcatcher
Difficult as I am miles away from the nearest screening and my Jack Russell will go nuts if I am away too long. Change in working hours means I don't finish until 1900 weekdays so have to pick and choose.
Stunning opening sequence with the talents of Sebastien Foucan ably showcased. How bloody fit is he???? To see more of him 'en parkour' click here http://www.parkour.com/ . Some may also remember the 'Jump Britain' Channel 4 documentary , where those lunatics were scaling buildings and walls effortlessly. More freerunning videos here
He had bought a large map representing the sea,
Without the least vestige of land:
And the crew were much pleased when they found it to be
A map they could all understand.
