In a Hollywood version, there would be. It would be their idea and the leading man would be a septic.

And Americans would believe it! Knobs!

Anyone seen "Attack on the Iron Coast" (I believe its called).

A raid not entirely without similarities to St Nazaire is led by that famous 'Canadian' Lloyd Bridges. (Looks like I picked the wrong week to give up sniffing glue.)

The problem with war films in a modern context is that modern cinema focuses on individuals a lot more. Audiences now want stories about people, more than stories about battles (eg Bridge too far/longest day etc.) it would have to be some sort of small unit thing. Maybe even a made up story <gasp>
A friend of mine at university is just finishing a film course (mickey mouse degree!) And is considering making a war flick about a fictional raid by British commandos to destroy the Nazi atom bomb research centre (of course, situated in a sinister looking underground facility in Norway. A few scenes he has already thought up...

The Ending: (i think this is REALLY cool) RAF Catalina seaplane is approaching to pick up team from the fijord next to facility. Last surviving commando has succeeded in planting explosives on an 'almost nuclear' bomb and is legging it through the facility in his german officer disguise being chased by enemy troops (lots of MP40 gunfights in corridors etc.) cuts between the planes approach and him legging it. Eventaully he dives out of a window into the fijord as the catalina lands. Shot of the gunner in the catalina firing machine guns at german guard, who shoot back. lots of rounds splashing in the water. Hero safe, catalina roars off. Cut to facility interior - team of German engineers and officer is racing to find the bomb, they find it and timer only has five seconds left. Cut to catalina in a steep climb away from facility as 'almost nuke' is detonated inside. Awsome shot of plane silhuetted against fireball, then roars past camera and off into night.

Not my film! i think the idea of a nasty WW2 seaplane being able to out accelerate a huge blast wave is rather far fetched but i do like the idea.

An account of a ficticious British Platoon in Amarrah , Southern Iraq May to July 2004. So that gives the filmakers a chance to blend in several incidents and stories. I think the that feller Cameron or the Blackhawkdown bloke should make it.

Go on Ewan, you know you want to, you actually get to play a Scot :D

I have something in mind as a blend of ; The Way Ahead (David Niven) , Blackhawk Down , Zulu and the street fighting scences from that awesome film Stalingrad

Maybe we can get a script together , when people are ready to talk about what happened (OPSEC+PERSEC not withstanding of course)
He had bought a large map representing the sea,
Without the least vestige of land:
And the crew were much pleased when they found it to be
A map they could all understand.

The only possible script out just now is on this thread

    http://www.arrse.co.uk/html/modules....&t=7841#125060

Auld-Slapper could have a cameo role and be technical adviser.

This would beat SHREK 2 hands down.
