Re: Best war movies
How about “The Charge of the Light Brigade”, or has it been done

Re: Best war movies
Watched some review-type prog yesterday, which attempted to show how and why certain films came about and how prescient some of the Producers were.
A couple of shouting at the box moments though,
One expert said of John Mills' appearences "if John Mills had ever played a Nazi we would have lost the war" - He did, and we didn't.
Also Simon Hoggart commenting on the Colditz story 'Where an English chap simply jumped over the wire and ran into the forest. Typical English, but I really think it was made up' - wrong, it was a Frog wot done it, subsequent similar British attempt resulted in the death of the escapee. For Flag & Empire !

Re: Best war movies
Rather like the training film Platoon, with a smattering of Colditz for tone.

Re: Best war movies
Dunno about the best war movie per se but the best soundtrack has to be from Walter Hill's film about a National Guard exercise gone very, very wrong in the Bayous of Louisiana Southern Comfort. The music was written and performed by Ry Cooder and slides into the locations and scenery like Stephen Seagals's knife slides into bad guys.

Like every TA exercise you've ever been on...
