I'm not sure if the cold war really counts as a proper war but it does allow all of the James Bond films into the debate. *It also makes me wonder what peoples views are on the best weapons(Real or imaginery) used in war films. My personal favourites are the Fembots used in Austin Powers (not really a war film but who cares).

Right, I'm going to stop this thread here with the ultimate war film (I'm sure you'll agree that there can be no argument):

    The Stupidity Factor.

    The End.

PS If you haven't seen it, give the training wing a ring (nice poetry) and I'm sure they'll sort you out. *While you're at it get 'The Long and Short of it.' *Possibly the least politically correct training film ever.

got to nominate "Memphis Belle!" as a top airborne war film!!!!!!!

and for my worst it has to be the entire collection of SSVC contributions that are shown in training camps all over!!!! with some dodgy looking staffy's shouting about anything and everything!!

It has to be Kelly's Heroes, compulsory viewing for all young officers at Bovington. *

    Also enjoyed Shaving Private Ryan!!!!

I met one of the yank actors from U571 in Ronnie Scott's in Soho whilst he was here filming Band of Brothers.
He was being noisy and we told him to shut up, at which point he explained who he was and said he was in U571, "which has you Brits all steamed up". I was going to say something quinesentially British and clever, but was beaten to it by a builder who was sitting behind us who said "if you don't fecking shut it and sit down and stay fecking quiet i'm going to rip your fecking face of...you cint."
    which worked.
    have we hit something?
